Alienware is top-tier construction and quality.. its the best thing you can get short of building it yourself (and probably better quality than if you built it yourself eg. cabling/cooling/warrenty/windows tweaks)

Alienware also has the highest resellerrating of the heavy hitters.

Great buy if you have the money and dont want to build your own.

My only gripe with Alienware besides the case being ugly is the price. He should have started posting and reading forms long before he paid $4200 dollars for a PC with an intel board, an extra gig of ram that won't be used, and the worst price/performance cpu ( a month ago now we have the P4EE for that). It is not hard to build your own PC. I paid $1300 for mine sans monitor and I assure you it will smoke the $4200 Alienware. People assume becase it is expensive it is the best and Alienware feeds on that.

No dude. I thought you might think I was refering to you, but I wasn't. Your PC isn't bad looking at all. I've just seen A LOT of ugly PCs from geeks that think their PC is the sh!t. Biggest bet peeve, black case is beige drives. :disgust:

Good for you man. Although alienware is expensive, they are a very good company, who makes quality PCs and fast ones. The case looks pretty cool as well.

4200 for a PC! I'd rather get a used civic. PS you got ripped, you could easily make the same thing yourself for 1000 less. Kinda odd that you have a top of the line system and such a $hitty camera huh?

why buy a porsche when you can drive a ferrari?

money spent don't mean squat...it's whether you think its
worth it or not

but as usual there are those that will always knock others choices
sure you could have built it yourself,sure you could have saved money

some folks spend 2000.00 on a monitor
some folks spend 225000.00 on a car
heck some spend millions on a house
doesn't mean their idiots
it means their different,their choices are different

i would love to see some benchmarks as well as seti times on that beast
and pictures of the inside as well.............please

the difference between a computer and car/house is that you cant get the same quality/size of a car or house for the same price as you can get a cheap one. ie a million dollar house will be a lot better/bigger than a 300,000 house and a 22k car will be a lot better than a 8k car. the difference with computers is that you can get identical parts thats in an alienware and build your own for a lot less. of course, MARTYB2K got a real good deal so he doesnt have to worry about this but a lot of people get ripped because they are buying AW

I am pretty sure that the arrangement between Best Buy and Alienware was severed several months ago. I think I remember a big deal being made about the reason at hardocp. Must have been in June because the "about alienware" section of their press releases mentions Best Buy until June 18, all press releases since then have the "through Best Buy retail stores" removed. I never go to this store but when is the last time someone saw one of these machines for sale there?

back home i can buy a 5 bedroom 2 bath brick house for 100,000.00 tops
where i am now i can't buy a two bedroom 1 bath for 100,000.00

all i am trying to say is ....he made his choice,he likes it,let him enjoy it

I'm still waiting for a case to be completely seated with fan filters that are removable or disposable to keep things clean. It's really difficult to keep a nice clean case... especially near the intake fans. I contemplated putting one directly in front of my hard drives, but then decided not to because of all the VERY fine dust I saw stuck to the case where I had other intake fans. Don't really want a blanket like that covering my Raptor.

True the camera ain't brilliant, but it's just a camera on my phone which is a Sony P800. Not a shi**y phone by any means of the imagination. In fact i'd say it was the best phone available until the new P900 came out in the last few weeks.

Doesn't Alienware (just like FalconNW, Voodoo, blah blah blah) still make some of the best custom designed performance gaming machines? So what if they're overpriced, like yourself I just wish that I could sit around all day with a company that makes gaming machines and sells them for an outrageous profit

It's still a fast, smokin machine regardless of how much $$ he spent on it.

I like the PC, a tad on the expensive side, but you've got a great system that you'll be able to enjoy, and if you've got the money for it...who cares really what anyone else says!
