My new i7 920 build parts list.

1. i7 920 D0 stepping cpu.
2. Motherboard
3. 2 X GPU
4. Case
5. Ram
6. Retention bracket so I can re-use my cpu cooler.
7. Hard drive

I am just waiting on the case. This system will replace the one in my sig. I have never done SLI. Should I initially do the build with one card then add the other one once things are set up. Also, do you normally update Windows first or install the chipset drivers. I normally update Windows first. This is my first socket 1366 build. Is there anything I should know before I start the build.

I always do the drivers first (chipset, and then the rest) - download the newest ones off the manufacture's site before starting the build (or during the Windows install if you have another PC or laptop - it kills time this way. 🙂).

Then install the latest service pack (if not included on the cd/dvd) and then do windows updates.

If you do the drivers first then you should avoid getting them installed via Windows update, which aren't usually the newest.

Thank you. How about the video cards? Should I only install 1 initially?
