Just installed my McCulloch 5300k HID kit that I bought from the Acura board. These things are great, they put out 3x as much light on the road as my old halogens. I made sure that they were aimed properly, I had my buddy drive in front of me and we drove past each other on the road and he said they were just different looking but not blinding.

yeah i think so

edit: jpeyton says otherwise. hmm.

i've heard of cops pulling ppl over for having super bright lights on a civic or something. but maybe there is a limit to how bright you can make em, and anything under that is still legal. anyone know the rules?

Brightness shouldn't matter as long as they're aimed properly.

It's if you have lights that are like super blue, IIRC..

HIDS require more than just good aiming. They require auto leveling devices so that load variations in the car do not blind oncoming cars.

This is why aftermarket solutions are sold as "offroad use only."

not entirely true since Acura hid's aren't autoleveling

Only in the European market are auto-leveling systems necessary for HID headlights.

i thought about converting the lights on my motorcycle, but got lazy and ditched the idea. Are you sure your beams are aimed correctly?

Pic of my MDX with 5000K HIDs.

I've got McCulloch too. So far so good except my wiring harness rusted because of some road salt that got on an exposed part. The company I bought it from replaced the harness free of charge.

The lights make a huge difference. I'm glad you are considerate enough to adjust them. I've pointed mine pretty far down and I've never gotten high beamed.

Edit: BTW, the fog lights are the lights that were in the headlights for comparison. Huge difference huh?

Yeah, need a pic against a flat wall w/o plants. I would say there's probably some glare but hopefully not enough to really piss people off. I wanted to do this but decided I was too lazy to mod my stock housings and buy all the stuff.

dammit..those look nice.

I really want an HID kit for the Maxima and Camry. They both have crappy-ass lights, the Camry being even worst than the Maxima.

Sadly they both have 9004 housings so while HIDs would be an improvement, they still wouldn't get that perfect beam pattern that OEM HID cars have.

Speaking of which, does anyone know if there are aftermarket headlight housings for 1999 Camry's? Doesn't have to be HIDs...just has to have better light output than stock.

theres a thread in maxima.org where people are converting the 9004 to 9007. the beam pattern looked better after the 'upgrade' according to the pictures people posted. its a slight upgrade that doesn't cost nearly as much as a HID set.

Dude, those beams look like they are aimed high. If they are, and you are ever behind me at night, I'm going to shoot you.
