Thats a ricer statement. It could be argued that the LS1 can only beat the Mustang because of displacement.

Put some work into a LT1 and LS1 and theyll beat the cobra

Not nearly as many as you'd like to think. Mod per mod the '03 Cobra will make more power. The stock bottom end will handle well over 1000hp off the lot. Nothing Chevy puts out will do that so there is a huge advantage from the start. There are '03 Cobra's that are running low 9's at 140+ that still maintain daily drivability. Have you ever seen a 1000hp LS1 on the street? The '03 Cobra is the domestic Supra. There is a turbo in the works for the Cobra that will make 950rwhp at 20psi and the Cobra will handle 30psi (the highest I've seen)! That'll walk anything in production to date. But it's OK if you want to think its slow and easily beatable.

ninja - do you know if they sell a Mach1 style shifter? They hit the nail on the head with the angle - people seem to love the way it's angled because it's angled towards the driver - no more kind of leaning over to shift. You might also want to check out the Steeda short shifter - supposed to help with the angle a little too

I have the Steeda shifter and love it. that was the first change I made. I have no idea about the Mach 1 though.

C&D had a review of the best tuned sports cars in the world, they had 14 and the lingenfelter TT came out on top over the vipers, porsches, NSX, etc. That tells you right there that the vette platform is far superior over the current mustang platform. Ill believe 1000hp mustang that is perfect daily driver(im talkin highway cruises, stop and go traffic without heating up) when i see it, right now there is nothing out there.

ROFL thats a ricer statment? Because a stock LS1/LT1 will beat a stock stang? Its just true. And Ill beleive a 1000HP street mustang when I see it. Sure it could be argued... but it's not GM's fault Ford decided to go smaller... I'm sorry but the LT1/LS1 are excellent engines and can be made VERY fast for alot cheaper then any other engine out there.

A GT can run low 11's N\A for less than an LS1 can. Start adding F.I. and the hp\$ ratio favors the Mustang exponentially. I'm not saying they can't be fast but there is a lot more work to an LS1 than you think. I see both sides of it every day and if you are a modder looking for the best platform to start on the '03 Cobra is far and away the best platform to work with. Anyone who has ever spent any descent amount of time learning about whats out there will tell you that.

nice ride man. i got some advice for you: if you want an auto then get an auto, what other people want shouldnt matter in the least to you. besides, im sure the GT's tranny isnt exactly tuned like grandma's Town Car's tranny anyway 😀. i didnt know mustangs were that inexpensive, a GT for 21k sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I agree, I just bought my mustang and I prefer the automatic plus all the power options. Not everyone needs to be two tenths quicker in the quater mile.

I agree. The way traffic is around here, I chose to get an automatic over a stick. Way too much of a pain in the ass to keep up and downshifting in stop & go 15 mile an hour traffic.

If I was to get a Mustang, it would be convertable. Do they make convertable GT's?
