I'm still living with my 6 YO Tommy Armours.

I really need a new set.

Wife won't let me get one though....

Sweet :)

Golf = Frustrating for me

Maybe it's because I just expect to go out there and be able to do good, and when I don't I get all pissed off and fsck up the rest of my round. It's definitely fun when you're having an ON day though. Dammit now I wanna goto the range :D

Congrats on your new clubs, although I'm afraid I agree with Mark Twain when it comes to golf.

That's probably because I suck at it though. ;)

Nice clubs! I've been playing for about three years now...playing to about a 15 handicap. I've got a set of Lynx Parallax irons that I'm pretty happy with; planning to upgrade to a set of Maxfli Revolution irons whenever I happen to find a good deal on them.

I did splurge and picked up a Titleist 975D driver a while back....kinda hard to hit, but absolutely launches the ball when you make a good swing.:D

Im still learning how to play... The only clubs i can hit consistently so far are my 9 and my 7. But ive also been learning on a 1972 Ping Senior Womens set... :D

Damn hand me downs... It was a much needed upgrade

Sweet clubs!

I've been playing for almost four years now on a set of Nicklaus AirBear irons 2-LW. I got the AirBear 2 Driver and loved it so much I bought the AirBear irons and 3W to go with them. Been playing since I was six, played in high school and college, too. Love the game, and the weather is good enough down here in KC to play this weekend already... :D

I use Alpha Reaction clubs by Kent Sports... not as well known but they make some sweet irons (kentsports.com)

I used to have a set of old Callaways... but their height was not right for me :(

Rock on!

I just picked up a whole new set of Nicklaus irons..and a Big Ass Powerbuilt driver (which i can't hit to save my life!) LOL

Anyway, i play just about every weekend now that the weather is warming up...and i'm in a league here at work that plays every other wednesday.

There's a "golf scramble" coming up soon as well, where they apparently wheel around a "keg cart" while you play....that should be exciting!

Hehe.. you guys would laugh at my clubs.. I got a set 3-PW, with a putter, 1,3,5 wood all for $116.. Since then I changed out the putter for a nice Ping putter.. and I added a decent lob wedge..

But the set is Wilson Ultras that I got at Target..

anyway.. they're still decent clubs (not that I wouldn't mind having a set of Orlimar SF302s or Maxfli Revolutions)..

My friend and I once had two guys - one with a set of Callaway X14's and some awesome drivers, one with a set of Tommy Armour blades (all brand new) - they had to join us because the course was pretty slow.. I ended up playing much better than the two guys that joined us.. and one of them was asking me what type of clubs I had..

brxndxn - how does that basic set work for you? I'd like to get into golf a little bit, just not sure if the "cheap" sets hold up that well. (A friend bought one last year and the head on one of the clubs snapped off)

Sweet sticks. I own them my self (TM Super Steel). The price was right too.

They are my 4th set of irons since I started playing and the are by far the best irons I have owned.

Enjoy them.

FWIW- my Lynx irons were only $120 secondhand and they've held up very nicely in three years of use (and I play a lot). It's really not necessary to spend huge cash for decent clubs.

Hell, my putter was $10 and I have yet to find anything so much nicer that it's worth the money to upgrade.

Congrats on the clubs. I saw some of those when I was at the driving range last week. They looked mucho nice. I'm still using a set of generic King Cobra knock offs although I'm actually quite happy with them for the most part since the shafts were custom fitted for my swing. I know a lot of players gripe about knock offs, but for somebody who plays as often as I do (MAYBE 10 or 12 times a year) they're fine.

I can't hit a wood to save my life although I'm pretty proud of my mid-iron play and the distance I get out of those clubs. I can knock an 8-4 iron with the best of them. I realize I won't ever be a complete player until I work on my long game, but for as little as I play now I'm satisfied.

I need to get out to the putting green more often. That's some of the best FREE entertainment money can buy on a nice spring day.

RARR to that!

When I first started playing I used an older set of clubs. Once I began to improve I decided to purchase a newer set, one that fit my expectations for a moderate price. I picked up a set of Ladies' Wilson Gear Effects 1200, graphite shafted woods 1,3,5 and 7, and steel shafted irons, 4-PW/SW. It took a lot of adjustment to get used to them, but now I really enjoy them! Just because clubs are less expensive, doesn't mean that they are poorer in quality. I use a PING putter and my favorite club is a Orlimar Metal Head 3-wood.

I love GOLF!

aphexII--Congrats on the new clubs, they sound very sassy!

RagingBITCH-- go out and pick up some Wilson Ultras or ProKennex clubs. They are great deals! :)

I just started playing golf again. I'm shooting in the low 90's, which isn't bad for not playing for year and only starting again about 3 months ago.

My irons are old skool black dot Ping Eye 2's. I have a various assortment of woods and yes, I still use the maple laminate Ping Eye 2 woods. I swear I can hit those things just as good as my graphite shafted metal woods, if not better.

I figure when I get better, I'll look at new clubs... my swing sucks! :)

Last few days i've been dying to go, just haven't had time.

BigJohnKC, what are some good courses here in KC? I've played Minor Park and Smileys, and neither are that impressive.

ah nice but nothing feels like forged blades. The hogan apex or old wilson forged staffs now those are pure but a lot of times the mishits stings with stiff metal shafts.

/me wants those stix! :D

This'll be my 4th year and I'm stuck in the low/mid 90's. Don't care though. Just love the game!

I'm on my first set. went to a store, told the guy I wasn't sure which end to hold and told them

what I could spend......... ended up with a set made by TourEdge (Comp 950 graphite)

They're somewhere between look-alikes and nice.

my favorite is the 7-wood I picked up last year. That is the most forgving club in my bag... 175 no matter what.

Ping Eye 2's for me. Had'em for about 10 years now. What shaft do you have in the TayloeMade SS? I play the TaylorMade 360 driver. Really sweet!
