my *new* glasses broke!!!

DaWhim

Lifer
less than 1 month

pic of the broken glasses

needless to say, I am just so pissed. :|:|:|
paid $260 for this and broke in less than a month.
when I was working in the library, books falling over my head and hit my glasses + head. then the frame of the glasses started getting loosed. now, the frame just can't stick to the lens.

question:
I have two insurance that should cover my loss. I paid with my american express gold reward card, they have a purchase protection plan. the other one is my renter insurance with Balboa. which one should I file my claim to?

before you go through insurance, go back to the store where you bought them. five months after i bought my glasses, the nosepads fell off and the store replaced the frame for free because apparantly they had a six month guarantee they didn't tell anyone about... i just went to complain =P

You get what you paid for. $260 is chump change when it comes to quality glasses.

the non-brand pairs before this one cost me $100 and lasted for 2.5 years.

You know, i told my wife that once...

Let me tell you... squeezing just isn't the same type of sensation....

😀

That sucks though... I just spent 250 on my new specs... luckily they're covered for 6 months by the Optician.

Meh. I've had a $350 pair of Giorgio Armani's, and the recent Dolce & Gabanna which were $329 which both broke. Those prices were just the frames. I need a polycarb lens, so thats another $120.

Where'd you buy it from? The last time I bought from LensCrafters, they told me that the glasses would be covered for a year if they broke for any reason... that was a few years ago, though.

I never pay more than $300 for my glasses, and they last for years. I only wear them at night, but I abuse them and fall asleep in them all the time. All of my glasses (3 pairs in 16 years) have worn out, but none of them have failed mechanically.
