my new favorite root beer

i've been a pretty big fan of IBC up until now. today i have discovered Virgil's Root Beer.

its micro brewed and made with imported nutmeg, anise, wintergreen from various parts of the world. has a smooth aftertaste.

i guess its the anise that i like. common spice used in indian cooking. i can taste it in the soda.

I have some Virgil's root beer, coke, black cherry soda, and "Dr. Better" all in the fridge right now. Will drink once done with finals. I've only had the root beer before (in the kegs) and it is thoroughly delicious. Shame on those that don't agree.

I prefer Saranac's Root Beer. Might only be available on East cost though since it is an upstate NY brewery.

Virgil's has too much licorice taste in it for me, otherwise it's good.

I like anise in licorice, but it doesn't taste good in Virgil's for whatever reason.

The Henry Weinhard's that the guy lists as his favorite is quite good but probably hard to find on the East Coast. Abita root beer is good as well, but again hard to find outside of the South.

It is the Anise, however, I like Aniseed cookies, but cannot stand black licorice.

Another vote for Abita. I live in Ohio and get it from a local merchant that carries their beer.
