Here's the revised list, with a couple of questions.
See my other thread for the previous system
What I've already got:
SB Live 5.1 XGamer
Toshiba 16x DVD
WD 40gig 7200 rpm hard drive
Antec sx1240 case (oh how I love this case)
What I'm now thinking of getting:
Iwill kk266-R
Athlon 1gig (possibly 1.2 or 1.33)
Leadtek Geforce2 pro, 64 meg.
Corsair, 256megs, cas2, pc133 RAM
Alpha PEP66 heat sink fan, with panaflo 60mm fan.
My major concern is the combo of the motherboard with the sound card. I'm thinking if I can't fix the problem with the pci latency patch, I'll consider the purchase of the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.
Does this look like good RAM to buy? I can get it for ~$108, so it fits my price range pretty nicely. I'm a little confused about cas2/3, unbuffered, registered, and that sort of thing. I could definately use some advice here.
This the the RAM I was thinking of getting
Originally, I was set on getting a 1gig athlon, and clocking it to 1.4. Prices are really going down right now, so I was thinking of getting a 1.2 or 1.33 and seeing if it would clock any faster than 1.4. What has been people's experience with doing this. Oh, and what is Axia?
I changed my mind on the cooling fan. The PEP66 is almost as good as the Silverado (probably nearly as quiet with the panaflo) and I won't have to import it from Germany (who knows how long that could take). It's also cheaper.
As for the Video card.. I'm pretty well set on the Geforce 2 Pro, but I'm wondering if there are any big differences between the different manufacturers. I can get both the Leadtek and the MSI for $189 from newegg. Which would be the better card? Are there any others, comparably priced, that might be better?
Thanks
Ryan
