I live right next to a Geely factory here in Beilun, Zhejiang, China. They seem to only be producing Emgrand and Geely at it though. Although the budget Geely brand isn't so good, I've heard a lot of good things about the Emgrand line.. and they look pretty decent as well.

That's a great looking car. With any premium brand (volvo, former saab, bmw, mb, etc) your experience will really depend on the type of dealer support you get, which it sounds like will be excellent.

That engine combo with fwd will probably be fine. The 850R was similar power, and although fwd it was only noticeable when breaking traction in corners.

Sadly, we really don't have any decent sporty diesel options in the US.

Anyone else agree that Volvo has better stock audio than most brands?

Been driving my mom's 2010 Volvo V70 for a couple months while I'm helping the family in San Diego. Audio system sounds phenomenal. Very clear and has reasonable bass. Better than the Bose system in the 2007 Mazdaspeed 6, which in turn is better than the stock system (even with upgraded subwoofer) in the 2011 WRX.

In fact, I don't think I would change a thing about the audio system in the V70.

Mazdaspeed 6 could use more bass.

WRX could use LESS bass (way too much), and better main speakers (for clarity), and maybe a bit more juice (loudness is weak).

Now if only the V70's tires were lower profile and it had a bit more oomph under the hood... and a manual transmission...

Speaking of all of that... my brother just picked up a nicely modified V70R. Wicked nice car.

Nice! I saw one yesterday in San Diego. It was right next to me on I-15. 😛 Subtly different - lower profile tires with bigger diameter wheels, and a bit of aero thingamajig at the back of the roof. Just different enough for me to take notice.
