Another thing I thought of lupi is that as far as MPG and keeping it in electric it's best if to switch to the Engage or Empower dash settings. I use the "Engage" level it shows the power split between the gas and electric motor.

As far as keeping it in electric mode, remember it's a gas car first, so accelerate up to about 3-4MPH above the speed limit, take your foot off the gas for a brief second, so it switches over to electric mode and use the electric mode to maintain your current speed. Now you can only do that for a mile or so before the battery is totally drained but once you get the hang of things it's actually pretty easy to get awesome mileage. My long term one year mileage at this point stands at 47.9mpg. Also at risk of sounding like a certain poster, inflate your tires a little bit. I keep mine at between 38 and 40 psi. I can notice a difference in that the car will coast better...and it'll give you a bit of a mileage boost as well.

I could probably write a small dissertation of how to get great mileage in this car without driving like a douche/holding up traffic but I'll just let you enjoy the new car and if you wanna any tips/tricks/etc I'll be happy to help you out.

Oh and try sneaking up on people in mall parking lots, the reactions are worth their weight in gold 😀

I actually had a Fusion Hybrid on my short list when I started car shopping about a year ago, but I went in a totally different direction and bought a Challenger R/T. But hey im averaging 22mpg, which is actually better than my beater Taurus (with about half the hp) im still driving to work.

And if I ever manage to sneak up on someone in a parking lot in the new car they need a hearing aid.

Yesterday was a good day, outside temp read 104 when I got in, but it dropped to the low 90's once I got moving out of the parking lot.

What's a good chrome cleaner? As most know this thing is loaded particularly in the front with the stuff and it seems to be the one item I didn't buy a cleaning product for.

is it real chrome or is the chrome-clad plastic stuff? Because if its the latter it sometimes has a clear coat on it just like the paint and can be washed like the rest of the car.

Wait, 36MPG? What?

I am confused by all these hybrids that get the same or marginally better mileage than non-hybrid counterparts.

Congrats on the purchase though. 🙂 I just wouldn't be able to justify the hybrid premium with MPG like that. Though, I suppose it's all relative.. what are the numbers on the non-hybrid Fusion?

I guess I have a forever tainted view of the hybrid world.

Fusion Hybrid is 41city/36highway/39combined.

The regular I-4 non-hybrid is 23city/33highway/26combined.

So actually that's significantly better mileage then the non-hybrid.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, that's more impressive then.
