As I was saying in my earlier threads, I am having problems with my computer freezing up. I have a p3v4x, 650e, iwill slocket II, WD 7200 rpm 20.5 expert HD, plextor 8/4/32, and a leadtek geforce 256 rev B hooked up right now. People in earlier posts thought it might be a driver problem. So the first thing I did was update my bios from 1003 to 1005. I went into windows and still had problems. So I downloaded the new via 4 in 1 drivers to a floppy on another computer. I got back on my other one and cleared all partitions. Then I created a 2.5gb primary one and set it to active. Then I restarted, formatted, and restarted again. From the a: prompt I switched to D: and typed setup to start installing windows for the third time
After I finished I didn't install any drivers, which meant I was still using "standard pci vga device" or whatever for the vid card. I installed the new 4 in 1 drivers first. After that I restarted and went back into windows. Then I added the drivers for my Viking 56k PCI winmodem. I got on the net and started downloading the new detonator2 drivers from Nvidia instead of using the leadtek drivers. I watched it for a while, but when it got to 50% complete I went to get a shower becuase there was still 13 minutes remaining. When I got out, the screen was black and there was a flashing underscore in the upper left hand corner. I figured it just froze up like it always does so I turned the computer off and then on again. However, when windows came up I saw the file for the new nvidia driver. I opened it up and installed it. Then I restarted and went to display settings. I went to advanced and started to look around. When I clicked on the output tab the screen turned black and my monitor started flashing orange like it does when the computer is not on. So I turned off my computer and I tried getting on the net to post a message here. The first three times the window froze. The fourth time I restarted and tried again, it froze again. I hit ctrl, alt, del to see what was not responding and it was rnaap instead of explorer. Don't know if that means anything or not. Do you guys have any ideas what could be wrong?
