My neighbors have been owned.

If they ever beat the puppy or things like that to "make it tough".... Turn them in ASAP and have it taken away. People like that are why Pit Bulls have such a bad reputation and are actually killed on sight in many cities.

GOOD!

I HATE people that think they need MEAN dogs.

And it's assholes like them that give certain breeds a bad name.

Fvck'um, I hope the dog runs away for good!

(Got a big backyard for it to hide in! 😉 )

You beat me to it. I did manage to get this pic of the OP's neighbors though 😛

I agree with the comments about Akitas. They are very territorial, with thier owners being thier territory. A friend of mine had one (until it was stolen). It chewed through a strap at his house, walked a mile or so over a hill to get to him at my house. I'm still not sure how it found him, the road goes around the hill. They're like really good high security systems, anyone they don't know is bad, anyone they do know is good, and if you're messing with thier owner they see you as lunch meats that would taste good with catsup.

My uncle had an Akita, and she chewed through a couple leashes, too. Eventually he had to get a leash with a thick metal chain jacketed with fabric. I dont know how you steal an Akita though, without resorting to drugs. And even then, when it wakes up it would be hard to get it to bond with someone else. I just dont think it would be worth the effort/blood loss.

I've seen an Akita attack someone firsthand, and the best way to describe it is to imagine the ownage involved when your average Civic-driving riceboy decides to drag race against a modded Hayabusa. The "lunch meat" analogy isnt bad, but it wouldn't want catsup... blood IS a condiment to a dog.

Make a deal with them, buy the dog for yourself so they can try again with another dog.

I would, but my grandmother is VERY allergic to dogs, except for poodles and schnauzers (sic), since they dont shed. So if she is going to come over at all, no pit bull for me. Otherwise, I'd buy the dog off them in a minute (at a Ferengi-approved price 😉 ). If it werent for the grandmother, though, I'd already have an Akita by now.

Pics of the dog, or the neighbors?

The dog is, well, a dog, and the neighbors are both guys, so I am confused as to why you want pics. 😕
They want pics of the dog greeting you.

Akita's were bred by Japanese to hunt bears. Pit bulls are by nature affectionate. It's the redneck owners (note, I didnt say everyone that owns pit bulls are redneck) that make them mean. The redneck, ugly, mean, overweight, "everyone but me sucks", "what are you looking at" guy down the street from me just got a pit bull.
I saw a pit bull playing around and pull his adult owner across the floor. Pretty neat.

Good story!

I think I'd be quite upset if I were your neighbors. I think it's borderline rude what you are doing and in the least it's uncessary.

People like that are what give Pit-Bulls their bad rep.

Now that it's being nice to you they'll probably start trying to "force" it to be meaner... 🙁

Honestly, if I saw them doing that, I wouldnt call the city right away. They walk the dog every night after dark, and I'd wait down in the bushes at the end of the cul-de-sac with my shotgun loaded with rock salt. THEN I'd call the city. The city might fine them, but really, people that do that sort of thing deserve a little bit of their own medicine.

I wonder if, in that scenario, I could get their own dog to attack whichever one was walking it  . Of course, if I did that, they'd probably figure out who did it 🙁

Rude? Ummm... I'm mowing my lawn and their dog comes over. I dont call it, I dont whistle for it, I dont snap my fingers, etc. I am doing nothing to call it over to me, it comes when it sees me though, because it likes me. WTF do you want me to do, beat it when it enters my yard?

I dont own a digital camera, and if I did I wouldnt be carrying it around while mowing my front lawn. So there shall be no pics.

My dog is the same way. She'll bark like a freak at anyone outside, but all she wants to do is play. She'd let an axe-murderer in the house with nary a care.

My dog is the same way. She's pretty much just a security system to let me know if anyone attempts to break in while we are home. I would be out of bed with a loaded .45 if she were to start barking in the middle of the night.

I think you should start baby-talking the dog whenever it comes over. "Ohhhhh who's a cute puppy-wuppy? Who's a cute puppy-wuppy? You are! Ooooo cutey-wutey puppy-wuppy!" Make sure to play with its ears and stuff while you do it. 😉

how nice is that.
having a dog without actually have to take care of the dog.
Yup, it's like when your friendly neighbors get a pool. Having a pool without actually having to take care of the pool.

That very thing made my childhood summers rock.

Now have the dog kill them.

Yes, point at them and say "kill". Sounds like the dog is waiting for that command from you.

*rubs chin thoughtfully* Maybe in 6 months or so. Right now the dog is still too little to successfully take out both of them.

In the mean time, I may go with yukichigai's suggestion.
