yummy!

why would you neighbours mind the chickens anyway....
I would be more worried about someone running over them with their car.

Best short story I have read in a while. This needs to be made into a short film or something...I mean...What happenes to the chickens???! Are they ok??? Did the neighbors get them???? HOW WILL WE EVER KNOWWWWWW?

I'll post a follow up this evening.

What do you mean, by, [you're gonna] "get moved?"

:hmm:

Moving to rural area, have to have septic system put in, water well drilled,,, and some other stuff done.

We spent the past 3 months clearing land and having stumps ground. In one day I had over 190 stumps ground down.

I heard about your "chickens" escaping on the news today. I can't believe you had them in there 10 years.

How much land and why are you cutting down the trees?

Having to clear a few trees to make room for the house. Leaving as many trees as we can.

Backyard will be 3 acres, 2 acres front yard, 12 acres total. The rest of the land is to the side of the house.

seeing as this is 100% your fault, i suspect the crap is going to follow you wherever you go.

Considering I am not going to have neighbors after the move,,,,,.

If I saw one of your chickens in the road I'd want to ask it a question that I've been dying to know the answer to.

Would you REALLY have to ask?

Allow you chickens to breed some more and then you can get the chicken catcher/caging machine. Then you can making a living have a live feed of that in action every night. wait let me put it in the right format

1. allow chickens to breed
2. get chicken catching/caging machine
3. webcast machine in action
4. ???
5. Profit!

I was thinking that after my wife and I get moved I might try to do some organic chicken farming. And then sale the eggs to a farmers market in houston or lufkin texas.

Maybe setup a webcam so people could watch the flock.

Won't they fly away if you don't put a roof on it? Seems silly to roof the entire property.

Good luck finding / catching the chickens.

Clip the feathers on one wing and they can't fly. A fence will keep them in, but the hawks and eagles can still have their fresh Mcnuggets.

How come noone has mentioned the possibility of dogs devouring the chickens? They are tasty prey to these wolf descendants.

Well, perhaps it's ironic that I just came into this thread to say...
Hopefully dogs don't get to the chickens. Our son's dog is apparently going to be a chicken killer. Swatting it on the nose with a newspaper, "no", etc. - nothing stops it from going after the chickens. And, it's a smart dog - figure out how to unlatch the latch on the chicken coop.
Final tally: 4 chickens dead. 1 rooster dead. 2 chickens still on the loose - if they enter the back yard when we're not around - they'll be dead too.

The rooster is in the sink, sitting in some cold water to bring the temperature down before I refrigerate it. I hate plucking chickens.
I'll probably have bbq chicken Thurs night.
