Some people like to cut the grass once before it starts growing. I don't know if it's true or not but they believe it helps the grass grow.

there are still mounds of snow, which partially cover the grass.
spring is here,its a great day.but this is going way overboard.
 
Here in Tennessee my grass is already desperately needing a mow. It's probably 8 to 10 inches high in places. And then parts of my front yard are still dead and brown.
