I want to let you all know I never go in really fast cars, my friends aren't super rich or super knowledge of cars so they get 4cyl. imports. But one of my friends did the opposite hes cruising in a 13second 1/4 mile 1996-8? Cobra Mustang and his brother has a 1992? Corvette (not as cool, automatic). My friend opens up the gaurge I see another mustand I always see, nothing important/exciting. He turns it on, the groud shakes, my ears rumble. I think cool, but not exactly excited yet. I get in the car, not that comfertable but decent (small seats?). We drive down a street in my city called wilbur pretty straight street. Still not that excited, but having fun in a rad car. Pull up to a red light. It turned green and we started going HE FLORES it my head whips back and I see everything around me zoom away (sort of like light speed.) suddenly we were going 100mph ish? it all happened so fast, I was in love with the speed (but not his 350$/month payment for the car/gas also).

We went to a HUKA joint and finished off there, I pop in the corvette, nothing exciting yet. We eat and afterwards we go back home. On the way home its a race vetter vs cobra. We started at a roll, and then they floor it. From the start the cobra is a car ahead and just kills his brothers vette. Vette had nice seats I liked them a lot more than stang.

Today I drove my bosses 1959? El Camino. SUPER fast, engine swap looks nice. everything else was SH!T EXTERIOR, interior, brackes, and steering. It was so hard to make turns at dead stops and the brake was so tuff I had to kick down. Manual brakes/steering I suppose. It was fun though. Can't wait to get in some others!

On father's day I rode shotgun in a Viper racing an Original 427 Shellby Cobra. We hit about 120.

keystroker: If you're that excited about a 13-second car, just wait until you get a chance to drive or ride in a fast car :D

Perhaps you aren't used to the torque that V8s offer...

About a year and a half ago I rode in a '99 C5 Vette. The guy had intake, exhaust, short shifter, and some suspension mods. He also had mid to high 12second time slips. Some S2000's wanted to race my friends Prelude so we could get it on video and the guy in the Vette was like "lets go".

Well, after getting the S2k and Preludes on tape, 2 of the modded S2ks decide they can hang with the vette. He handed me a video camera and said get this one tape. I swear to god I couldn't move the camera fast enough to catch how much he destroyed the S2ks...

I was used to imports before I got to ride in that thing. It really changes your perspective on racing, doesn't it?

My uncle has a 1968 Shelby Cobra Repro with the 427 engine. It gets to 60 in under 4 seconds, I cant remember his 1/4 time off hand....

I also have some videos somewhere on my comp of my friends 1997 Talon TSI running a 12.11 1/4 mile. Its got intake, exhaust from headers back(high flow cat, 3"..), boost controller, all custom pistons, cam shafts, etc etc.

Gogeeta, does your friend with the Talon go to RIT? I know a kid that I had some classes with their. His best run last Spring was 12.022 @ 111.98. Over the summer he rebuilt his transmission and swapped in a larger turbo. He's hoping for mid 11's.

You've been bitten by the large displacement bug. haha

I had been in some 'quick' cars before, but none really fast, until....

Going on 14 years ago now, a good friend of mine somehow convinced his parents that, if they would buy him this car, he would go to their college of choice after high school (there was a bit of a family disagreement over where he wanted to go). Yeah, right. So they fell for it.

He tells me he's getting this car but he won't say what it is. His parents are kinda BMW or Volvo types, so I'm thinking they insisted it be something reasonable. He calls me at home one day and says he is bringing his car over.

I'm in the house and I hear this ominous rumbling coming up the driveway. Then I hear the engine rev and think 'Jesus H who is that?' (not thinking it would be my friend). I go outside and he's getting out of a 1970 Dodge RT Challenger - near mint condition - sporting a 440 6-pack (numbers matching). I nearly crapped my drawers.

The 440 was far from stock, the previous owner just had the engine rebuilt, with a dyno sheet showing 475HP, 50HP more than the 426 Hemi. We went for a ride and he couldn't even handle the thing. We almost spun out and into the ditch a few times, the rear was just wild on that car. But he was adjusting, he already had it for two days, and he managed to do a couple strong passes. Good Lord, it was scarey fast, I wanted out of the car until it stopped, then I just giggled incessantly like a girl.

god those cars rock,

it would take $1000 a month on your CC, to pay off the bills to make a honda go that fast.

No, he doesnt, he lives in cleveland, by me, and works at his dad's business....

His mods are nothing special, many DSMers do much the same, and run even better times than he does. Ask KomotoGST if you want more specifics on DSM modding, My knowledge is limited by 2nd hand expirience, I have never owned one.
