My MSI K8T Neo FSR II board won't POST.

I tried booting the system with the clear cmos jumper in its default position (the way it was from the factory) no luck. then i look at the manual and according to the manual, its in the Clear CMOS Position. 🙁 Not good, so i change it and try to turn on the pc and no response. no fans nothing. in the other position fans spin etc but i get no post.

does anyone have any ideas.

god this sucks. i waited 3 weeks to get all these parts in.

Have you tried another PSU? Perhaps it's faulty?

msi's diagnostic says "chipset initializing" would a faulty power supply get you that far? for all fans to spin, cd rom light blink on and off, hd initiated and then just blank?

it's possible. I had an MSI K7N266 Pro2 or something and when my PSU died, it did the things you said. It seems that just part of the PSU died. But, it could very well be something else. Check the CPU and Ram? Video? I'm sure you have, but unplug all those items, plug them back in. Reseat the HSF.

it's either the ram or the motherboard.

when i put just 1 stick of ram in it, it beeps, 3 steady beeps.

when i put 2 sticks in it, nothing, no beeps, nothing.

so it's either the ram or the motherboard.

also with 2 sticks in it, msi's diagnostic lights indicate that "chipsets initializing"

Is this a new board? (If it was I would return it.) If the jumper was in the 'clear' postion for a long period of time, the battery on the board is probably dead by now.

Sup PG😉

With MSI's 3 people will get one and work perfectly (anandtech), 3 people will get em and have minor issues, and 37 people will get one that barely works.😀

serisously, I think you need to flash bios to recognise winchester.

How will he be flashing the bios when he can't boot up? 🙂

heh ....presents some difficulty now does'nt it🙂 AFAIK all boards need to be flashed before seeing winchester...

Guess what, I waited a few weeks for all my parts too (more like a month), yesterday I finished everything, i turn the pc on, no post nothing showing.
Something is wrong with the motherboard I figured, after trying different PSU, video cards, running without cpu and memory to get an error...
Nothing. No beeps, no errors, no nothing.
God dammit this MSI Neo2 Platinum board.
I hope it's realy the motherboard cause I bought another one today.

You people think it can screw up other parts cause it's defected?

ok.

so the vendor is going to try and get D&H (wholesaler) to do an exchange for me. i'm gonna get the MSI K8N Plat II board.

does that one need to be flashed to recognize winchester also?
