My mouse wheel doesn't work

Yzzim

Lifer
I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 and the wheel doesn't work. It worked just yesterday, but now it doesn't work today. I didn't install any new software or hardware.

I tried reinstalling the driver (comes up as a PS/2 Compatible Mouse) and I even installed the Intellimouse 4.0 software. Nothing seems to work. I have checked everything I know possible (mouse properties, intellimouse software) and the mouse wheel scroll is enable.

Any ideas?

If your dual booting test the mouse in an alternate OS. Or preferable test it in another system altogether if possible, so as to determine whether the problem is software or hardware related.

Oooo....good idea. Never thought of that.

Hey I have this sort of problem too.. I figure I just use this thread to solve it rather then make a new one.. I have a kensington "mouse in a box" mouse and my scroll doesn't work in windows 2000. It worked in win98se and in windows xp. but with windows 2000 it doesn't work.. when I scroll up the mouse pointer moves up and when I scroll down mouse pointer moves down...
any IDEA?
