My Motherboard died recently

I built my system a couple years ago with an AMD X2 3800+ and an Asus M2N-E(AM2 Board). I was able to get a solid overclock up to 2.6Ghz, but it was beginning to show its age. I'm kind of strapped for cash and probably have roughly $140 to repair the system. I don't know whether or not I should spring for a cheap Intel Core 2 Duo board and a cheap Intel Proc. or to get another AMD board. It's crucial that I have this system back up and running as soon as possible, any advice on whether to scrap the $35 CPU and go for Intel's offerings or to just buy another AM2 motherboard would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

The rest of the specs in my system are as follows:
8800GTS 640MB 648/1998/1500
2GB PC6400 RAM in 2 Dimms
X-Fi Fata1ity Sound Card
450 Watt Fortron PSU
Dual 320GB Seagate Hard Drives
Scythe Mine

Since it Cr**, then the first step would be Pepto-Bismol. :light:

Otherwise you are better off Intel Core Duo. Take a look at he look at Attention System Builders link at the top of the forum.

A total switch over isn't a good idea if...
A. You haven't been planning for it.
B. You're strapped for cash, and have to "settle" for something less than you would normally want.
