My mom who has always had a great Imagination just finshed her first book and it has blown my wife and I away! I made her a simple webpage to friends and family read/download the book to see what they thought. She is currently submitting the book to several Publishers and I think she has a chance for a bestseller. Very wierd since this is my MOM :Q Anyone else have writers in thier family...Any Info and tips on getting published would be great so I can pass them along to her.

Thanks,
Shawn

Well looks like we exceeded the bandwidth in just a few hours so I'll guess im gonna have to pay. :Q

I don't have any tips. But my former next door neighbor has gotten a few books published. The movie rights for one of them was bought by HBO a while back. Good luck to her though!

Downloaded it...I'll give it a read!

Thanks.

I was working on a book myself, but have put it on hold for now..

Good LUCK to your MOM!!!

Most of the large publishers won't do a thing unless she has an agent, so her first goal would be to find an agent.
An agent will know who would be interested in this work, and can target publishing houses/imprints that publish historical fiction, especially those that have shown interest in books about that same time period.

BTW: Might not want to leave the ENTIRE work available for download. Why would anyone want to buy it then?

hmm is it copyrighted? if not mite not wanna put it up on the net...theres a lot of content stealers!

it's copyrighted... all IP is copyrighted...

true, but potential publishers will not like the idea that it has already been "distributed" by someone else. Sounds trivial but believe me it is true.
