My condolences for you and your family. I have no idea what it could be as I am not a medical doctor.

One of my best friends lost his mother 4 years ago while she was in for heart surgery. It was supposed to be routine...she passed away 3 days later. She can never be replaced and I have never seen him so hurt in his life. Just remember all the good times my friend.

It may be related to complications from the gastic bypass surgery. That surgery does really bad things to the body and should be used as an absolute last resort.

However, there isn't enough information in your story to say what caused her death. Hopefully the autopsy will reveal more information.

Best wishes you all of you!

Honestly, I wish you and your family the best. This is probably one of the most difficult things to get over. :(

I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to suddenly lose your mother...

I'm a medical student and can try to answer whatever questions you may have. With only your description of the symptoms of intense abdominal pain with radiation to the back, nausea and vomiting, the main condition that comes to mind is acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas that often leads to death. The main causes of pancreatitis are alcohol (usually only in alcoholics), gallstones obstructing a duct, medication complications, and very high triglycerides. However, that's just what most doctors will think of given that description, but of course there are many many more conditions with similar symptoms and it's very hard to know without labs/physical exam.

Did the doctors tell your family what was going on? what condition she suffered from? was she on the regular hospital beds or was she in the intensive care unit?

Again, I am very sorry for your family's loss and if you have questions, I will try to answer whatever I can.

totally wrong what the hospital did

look at those wait times for help from the er! my prom date was taken in to the er for passing out (the administration freaked out) and was admittied right away. she wasnt foaming at the mouth, and all they had to do was give her an iv drip that she truely didnt need.

i would check with a lawyer about that

my condolences to you and your family

I, too am sorry to hear of your loss. I just lost a grandfather myself. I don't see why you are suggesting malpratice here... your post is hard to read but I don't see it anywhere in anything you posted.

One thing is for sure, change doctors.

She shouldve been admitted to the hospital immediatly given those symptoms.

Tums for someone doubled over in pain describing a 9-10/10 on a pain scale? You gotta be kidding me.

Sorry for your loss.

One thing did strike me from your story: why did you call your local doctor and not 911 when the pain first started?
