My mother takes walks at night....

My mom takes walks at night because thats basically when she has time to take her walks. She walks because she basically needs exercise so I have nothing against it. One problem though is that she takes her walks with pitch dark clothing, completely black head to toe and this is a real safety problem. One concern of mine is that because there are mountain lions in my area, I'm wondering if the one bad thing she is doing could be keeping her safe from a mountain lion attacking her due to her not being visible.

Would wearing dark/pitch black clothing prevent her from being seen from a mountain lion? Or should she just take my suggestion and start wearing white instead as that would make her much safer for cars as when I'm driving home I end up seeing her on her walk but unfortunately it's much too late for safety sakes.

People always take things so far.

I wasn't talking about that - I simply stated the obvious that if it is predators you are concerned with, the color of clothing is not going to impact your chances for safety as they have superior senses of smell and hearing. Now I would argue that mountan lion attacks are rare. I'm not sure if it would help or if it is legal where you are, but if I were in that situation, I would carry two things, some high powered pepper spray (the good stuff) (animals generally hate it), and a very loud high decibal alarm. Not sure if that would help scare one off - but it might help.

But your mom should know better than to walk around at night like that. Dangerous, especially where you live, not a good idea, especially alone, does she carry a cell phone, or anything with her? She should.
