My Monitor Dying?

Just a quick question. The past few days my monitor has been acting up. Yesterday it turned itself off (I turned it back on without problem) and today I was using the comp and it shut off and came back on. Like it was going into sleep mode and then came out of it since I was using the computer.

Anyone know a reason this would happen? Is there interference or is my monitor dying. I've had this monitor for about 5 to 6 years. So its not new. Its a Sony Trinitron Multiscan15sx. I love it 🙂

Thanks for the help.

edit: Just happened again and now it seems that the color is messed up in the upper left of the monitor. Crap 🙁

Maybe. Try this:

- Check your cables and your power saving schemes.
- Try to turn it off and pass your hand through all the screen to discharge eletrostatic.
- Try to contact Sony support

Well, there's two basic causes that I can think of. The power regulation circuits of the monitor are starting to go, or the power management features are acting up. I tend to lean towards the former rather than the latter. Have you made any changes to the computer lately? Installed any new drivers? I suppose you don't have another computer you can test this on huh? Does this happen several times every day or just once every day or so?

Well I switched the power supply it was plugged into and it hasn't done it since. Hopefully that will solve my problem. If not I'll try some of these other things. Thanks!
