My Monarch X-2 4800+ order

Ordered 7/8/05. Website promises shipment in 8-13 business days. Still in "pre-production" planning phase at about 7 business days. Contacted them about my concerns on shipping on time as I'm leaving on a long business trip very soon and asked to cancel if they could not ship by 13th business day. Reassured it would ship no later than 13th business day, so I told them to proceed with the build. On their web order tracking page, I am still in stage 4 of 6 which is "Step 4 of 6 - Build. All the components of your computer system are being assembled inside the case or chassis. During this step, drives are installed, cables are connected and any add in cards are installed in the system. We take the extra time necessary to tie off all cables and tuck them out of the way increasing air flow and cooling throughout the system."
Just below this is the following statement:

"If there is a problem with your system that will delay your order, we will contact you via email. Otherwise, your system will ship on time."

Well, today was day 13... No email, no response to my email yesterday or today. Granted, they may be swamped, but then they should not make promises they know they are unlikely to keep. Maybe it did ship, maybe their website is just not showing it and their order status tracking system is woefully inadequate and I will be happy. But I am feeling stuck here. If it does not ship today, it is likely I will be gone when it does arrive. I want to cancel if it did not ship but am likely to be told I cannot cancel now or must pay some fine.

Always have gotten things on time from Monarch. Not really speedy, but this is more than a minor irritation now...

Any advice from the community?

Hard to say. I haven't ordered from Monarch in a few years. They used to be really quick but lately I've heard a lot of horror stories.

Monarch are liars and their customer service is 2nd to last. You will NOT get your system on time. You WILL be lucky to get it before your credit card billing cycle is up. And you WON'T get any customer service to speak of in the meantime. Also hope and pray that everything works when it arrives because their "extensive testing" line is just plain melarky and if you ever have to send it back to them for "repair" you might never see it again in this lifetime. I, for one, will never do business with those losers again, and HIGHLY suggest you cancel the order before it is too late.

why did you not pay for faster shipping when you have a business trip that, as of now, conflicts with the shipment?

There was plenty of time to receive the system under their projected shipment date. They don't appear to be even close now. The business trip and required shipping date were made known to Monarch before construction of the system even bagan. Updated shipping would save me 3-4 days? That won't help them at this stage of the build, I fear.

Edit:
We'll see, like I said maybe it will be on its way tomorrow with upgraded shipping...

I placed my order with them on the 15th...I am still in step 2 of 6. I emailed asking them about that and they said that some times their online order status page is not updated in real time, and that my system should ship on time...so we shall see.

some of the reviews say that they receive late, but working nonetheless.

It's really a shame their rating is so high, because people get the wrong impression. Monarch are liars. They DO NOT test the systems the build in any satisfactory way. I had a motherboard in a built system burn up the day I received it, and only a long hard battle with those jerks got me my money back. Their rating is so high because people buy alot of nickle and dime stuff from them. A memory stick here, and a fan there, etc. But when it comes to systems from Monarch, be afraid.... Be very, very afraid.

I hope that is the issue with mine and that it did ship today. Still, no email announcing shipment from them so I am not too optimistic...

If and when they ship, you'll receive a notification from Fedex directly.

Monarch isn't really known for their speed. Usually they're on time, but since they're not very big, once they get bogged down, they get bogged down. But Monarch does have excellent tech/customer support, and if you really feel strongly about your delay, talk to a rep. and see if there's anything they can do for you.

Excellent customer support my ass. Please relay your story of excellent customer support from Monarch. Then, again, I don't know if I'll believe it anyhow because I have firsthand experience with their absolutely horrendous customer support. And at this point I honestly have to believe that resellerratings.com are crooks. Because it just doesn't make sense that Monarch could have such a high rating there. Look at the negative reviews. They tell the real story. On epinions.com you'll find a story about Monarch sending a collection agency after a customer when he returned 3 defective drives in a row, was denied a refund, and made a chargeback on his credit card... THAT is the customer support I've come to know from Monarch Computer.

They sent my DVD burner on time, and a CPU/MOBO combo is on the way.

You are unlucky.

I had a similar experience with monarch, and many others have had delays on their Motherboard/CPU combos and systems. Also, their customer support is a little unresponsive, but at least they respond to you unlike some other companies. After having the horrible experience with monarch, I still reccomend them for individual parts, but I always warn people if they are going to be ordering combos/systems that it will probably arrive late.

As a final note, I wouldn't call Monarch Liars. Newegg has delayed many shipments to me (although 5-6 shipments delayed for 1-2 days out of 20 shipments isnt' bad at all). You have to give Monarch a break. They are a small company and have recently been flooded by tons of orders because people have heard about how great they are. Growing pains happen all the time.

Oh a DVD burner. Well they must be the best merchant since sliced bread, then!! This is precisely why their resellerratings.com rank is too high. People buy nickle and dime stuff with little incident, but then when it comes to system builds huge problems arise, but those reviews get buried by all the minor purchases that went well.

On the contrary, you are lucky - so far. Like I said, hopefully you've purchased these things with a reputable credit card. If you have ANY problems with that CPU/MOBO you'll get the runaround from Monarch. Trust me.

If they weren't liars then they would just own up to the fact that systems do not and can not ship in "8-13 business days" and change their website. If they weren't liars they wouldn't say we're performing "extensive testing" on your system creating extra delay only to have it arrive with a dead motherboard. If they weren't liars they wouldn't say "we'll dispatch Fedex to pickup your system for return" and then never dispatch Fedex.

They are liars. Plain and simple. And they also appear to be very savvy. Federal law requires mail orders to be shipped within 30 days. Mine was shipped in 29 days. However, they shipped defective merchandise, which was their downfall. And even though they tried to fight me, they had no chance of winning. Keep that in mind. Also keep in mind the bad reviews of them sending collection agencies after people for simply returning dead hard drives. Also keep in mind their statement "Until full payment is received by Monarch Computer Systems, it shall have the right to seek return of its products through any means including entry on to property and self-help". This is the type of company Monarch is. They're cut-throat. They don't give one iota about you - the customer. Period.

So did it ship yesterday?

That's really just a rhetorical question as I know that it didn't.

If you read their forums you will realize that actually getting a custom system from Monarch on time is rare, and you also are fairly likely to have immediate issues with the build.

I agree with Hacp. I have no problem ordering individual parts from Monarch, but would definitely not go to them for system builds and I try to warn others.

Bought all the required components to upgrade my system from them last week: motherboard, cpu, graphics card, case, power supply etc. Apart from the case which was on its own, everything else was well packed in one big box which arrived on the scheduled date. Not 'nickel and dime' stuff and I would definitely buy from them again...

You are one of the lucky ones. The more you deal with Monarch, the higher the likelihood that you'll get screwed.

Wow, meatball, CHILL.
I ordered my system from them without any problems and it shipped on the 7th business day (using standard shipping - no rush orders). My order was placed on August 11, 2004. I have had 0 probs with them or my computer.

Just because YOU had a problem doesn't mean everyone else will. The next time I order a custom desktop, it will be from them again.
