My memory failed under Norton diagnostics!

Using Norton diagnostics under Norton Systemworks, two of my PC's failed the memory diagnostics. I currently use Crucial memory and a stick from Mwave (one with a lifetime warranty). Is the Norton memory test accurate? Is there any other utility that tests memory?

BTW, I have an Abit KT7a-Raid with a t-bird 900.

Had the same problem, contacted Norton.

Reply:

...Norton Diagnostics' memory test fails on systems
with more than 256 megabytes of RAM

Situation:
When running Norton Diagnostics, you notice that the
memory test immediately fails. This often occurs if
the system has more than 256 Megabytes of memory
(RAM).

Solution:
Norton Diagnostics cannot run a memory test on systems
having more than 256 MB of memory. This is a
limitation of Norton Diagnostics and it is not a
problem with your computer's RAM.

We are aware of this limitation and the need to
increase the memory capabilities of Norton
Diagnostics....

Try this program to test your memory. www.docmemory.com

My crucial memory has been working fine for 6 months.

Thanks, I do have more than 256mb of memory on my two PC's. Stupid Norton, just stressed me for nothing.

If you read bacillus post there is a workaround. Your system should actually run a little teeny bit better with that tweak too.

I know that MemTest86 works fine with at least 384MB (send me some SDRAM to let me test it with more ;) ), and I've heard it finds errors missed by Norton and most other diagnostics.
