This is dumb. Crime must really be down in that town for the cops to start looking for dumb stoners on Myspace.

My guess is that they're looking to curtail the activity before it becomes a much larger problem. The offender is still young enough to decide to make a change, hopefully before his current pseudo-"gangstah" life turns into something much more serious.

In my mind, that's a major purpose of law enforcement...not simply to catch a suspect after something happens, but to play an active role in discouraging criminal activity in the future, while also doing its best to rehabilitate those who still have a shot at a productive existence.

I totally agree with your point. Yes, it is against the law and you should not break the law. Breaking the law and advertising it on the Net is super-dumb, I completely agree - the kid is close to a retard. But from experience (myself and friends), the only negative effect of pot that I observed was believing you are the bastard child of Jimmy Paige or Robert Plant. So I don't think it really is that big a problem.

Hunting for 18-year-old stoners on the internet and throwing them in jail is a little too much. Hmm...maybe he was advertising himself as a dealer? I guess he might be dumb enough to do that too!😀
