Yep, wait till China overtakes India as the largest English speaking country in the world. The only reason that outsourced jobs went to India was because of India's English speakers. Chinese kids now learn English in school, and soon jobs will go to China from India. China already has the better economy AND better infrastructure. I think Beijing probably has more skyscrapers than all of India combined.

Anyway, interesting times ahead!!

The last part about $1,000 computers scared the crap out of me.

1. It's really hard to make predictions about the future. Just look at the predictions they made in the past...
2. A computer is only capable of doing what a human can program it to do.

O RLY?

YA RLY. How do you think that computer learned to do what it does?

yeah. me too.

but then again, look at the possibilities: A uni-mind.

connect directly to the brain. no more keyboard or text messenging. everything at the speed of thought.

myspace on steroids where you are part of the greater consciousness.

no more individuality. everyone understands everyone else's background, problems, concerns.... World PEACE

And a dark thought:
The Borg... oh my....

I got the feeling by the end of the presentation that either robots or the chinese are going to rule the world.

I for one do not accept our new robot or chinese overlords, and shall fight to the death in opposition.

Yeah... This isn't a big deal until someone successfully teaches a computer to think and learn on it's own. When that happens, Skynet is going to come to life and nuke our sorry asses 🙂

Maybe we'll get lucky and Skynet will go after the Chinese and Indians first... that should buy the rest of us some time!

a few of those facts I think are off. Like the worlds richest country I believe is Qatar or the united Arab Emirates.
