Buddy of mine asked me if I wanted to go on an impromptu fishing trip (normally we plan them) this afternoon. Unfortuantly, I told him that my son and I had just finished the batter to a killer homemade sourcream pound cake, and that we could not go anywhere while it cooked for the next 2 hours. He said, "Just shove the batter in the fridge." I had to explain why that wasn't a good idea.

Another friend of mine observed - you cook more than most women do.

So - Am I weird? BTW I'm 31 and have one kid.

So, I'm a guy that loves to cook. I got excited at a yard sale when I found a pristine double boiler other day for instance. Sigh - most guys don't even know the joys of a well made double boiler or how a pressure cooker can make your life complete.

Nothing wrong with a guy who cooks and bakes! It's great that you and your son cook together, too.

You keep doing your thing, good job. My brother does the samething, he loves to cook as well. If you keep doing things like that with your son, he'll remember that. :)

Your friends are the insecure ones. They realize your hobby can get you laid much easier than theirs. Most of the best cooks in the world are men and spending time with your kid is 10X more important than fishing with buddies.

more importantly than the fact that you cook, which is a good thing, is the fact that you do it with your son. You have just gained 386 high esteem points, in my book.

:p

Primetime once said that children who did more female-related activities had a higher probability of being gay.

Give him a GI Joe for X-mas, not the Easy-bake Oven.

You are talking about a kid that was smitten with a 16 year old when he was 10 and asked her out - he has chutzpah. . . He told an 18 year old cashier the other day that she was extremely attractive (in just that way) - she told em to look her up in 8 or 9 years :)

Indeed.

It is just one of your hobbies.

Some people get uptight about what other people do far too often and then b!tch, moan about what THEY do!

Cooking is friggen stress relieving and is pretty fun imho. You are not "wierd" for enjoying to cook with your son, or even enjoying kitchen "stuff" in general.

It wasn't until relatively recently that women did the cooking, IIRC.
