My lungs hurt....

I'm an idiot sometimes.

I went biking yesterday and was halfway on my way to finishing my 42mile workout when I realized how late it had gotten. I double-timed it for the last 21 miles. I was riding on the W & O trail here in VA and was riding through the woods . For about the last ten miles it was already pitch dark and I was flyingthrough the cold 9pm air.

Here's the problem:

1) I only carried one water bottle

2)about 3 miles down the road I had to fix tire and chain problems. [15min directly in the sun.]

2) The trail ended @ my 21st mile, so I just turned around. The problem is that the I had run out of water at mile 11, and therefore had to go for 10 miles without water. I did finally get water at the 21st mile and had a 15min in beather though.

3) I was flying on my way back(VERY VERY FAST) trying to beat the nightfall. I didn't however, and it was cold as hell to me because i had been riding in the sun earlier.

4) My lungs have been hurting since last night . I strain to take a DEEP breath and it hurts a little. The pain is going away drasticaly though.

<----probably going to bring a gallon of water with him last time.

EDIT :

Cliff notes:
rolleye.gif

1) dumbass went biking for 42miles in the hot sun and got seriously dehydrated. He still had to go 10 miles without water.

2) dumbass started riding late in the day, so he got caught ring in pitch black and the resulting cold

3) dumbass' lungs are in pain.

One note:

Road bikes ROCK. Last time I did this (w/ 2 water bottles) it sucked on my trek 800 mountain bike.
This time it was soooo smooth, not to mention the insane speed i was traveling at. Getting the hand-operated pedal-shifters was tricky at first but now I can handle them well @ highspeed.

I feel your pain. I went for a hike yesterday, only six miles, but it was over rough ground, and I totally forgot water of any kind. On the way back I was hurrying to beat a storm because I had my camera stuff with me. I got so dehydrated it wasn't funny. Hope you feel better.

Thanks. Good luck with your health too.

<--felt like Sh!t everytime he breathed in last night. had to drive 20 miles to get home after the bike ride too. Every shift (manual tranny) was a fun...

I cannot believe you went for a 40 mile bike ride. I have done like 8 miles or so and that's far, especially if you have to go up hills. I must admit though, I've never tried to go any further.

Do road bicyclists really hate hydration packs that much? I carry a Camel pak all the time when I ride the trails. The weather was hitting 90s. One water bottle isn't going to cut it.

I've tried explaining the terrain on my trail and always screw it up. Pretty much full of hills...long hills too. I had to bike uphil for 1 mile + a lot.

I need to buy one of those. I've been biking ala ghetto and I guess it isn't working😛

IS there a doctor in the house?

Even though a fitness gym can be expensive, sometimes it could be worth it 😉

I spend 14 miles on the exercise bike. Around 38 minutes on a good constant level of resistance. Those machines are good in cases like this.
