look what happened...

my clasp holding my heatsink broke causing my heatsink to fall. Also... dunno if my CPU survived. This is what happens when you make **** out of cheap plastic. i think it did seeing that I booted up into windows... then got a bsod.

i wonder if my CPU survived? neways rma to zzf. see what happens.

Looks like you had a single holder on each side. What HSF was it ? This is a socket 754 Athlon64, right ? I got a Thermaltake Silent Boost K8, has THREE clips on each side, so this won;t happen.
Edit CPU has thermal protection, its probably fine.

I was using the retail heat sink... I think I will be upgrading to a different heatsink now.

how good is the thermal protection... i made it all the way into windows, then i bsod'd. i hope she survived... never the less... gah!!!

Sorry to hear that. BTDT, unfortunately. I lost a motherboard when the NB heatsink fell off. Fortunately it was the only thing that died in that incident.

i may do that.

by the way, how good is zzf rma. they guy on the phone said the would not confirm anything till they see the acutal mobo.

also.... if the mobo was btx this wouldnt happen, the heatsink would have fell on to the powersupply or something and not on the agp/pci/nb/sb.... sorry im a bastard i know
