7th grade, she was a good student, the only C she ever got was in PE. and she claimed it was because no one ever passed her the ball so she doesn't participate, and the teacher gives her a C for not participating.

Anyways, her recent report card came and it apprently has a 1.5 gpa, wtf??
:|

She has been online a lot in the past month, to the point where I can't call home to say hi to my parents (i'm in college). There are times where she is online until midnight, on a school night, and she may even stay up until 3 am, I"m not exactly sure what time she sleeps since i'm not home, neither is my older sister who is off at college. We never had to worry about her school work and such, but now this 1.5 gpa shows up, seriously man, what's wrong with her?

When i go home on the weekend, i notice that she sits in her room all the time, watchs tv in there until 2 or 3, sometimes 4 in the morning, this isn't normal behavior for a 7th grader right?

Any ideas on what's wrong with her? Could she be depressed or anything like that? I really don' t konw how to approach her. At this moment i just want to yell at her and tell her to stop being such a stupid "i don't want to be a bandwagon, i don't follow the crowd, if no one wants to be my friend screw them" little dumba$$. I want to have her talk to the school counselor to see what is wrong.

any input?
thanks

"Hey sis. Your grades suck, it seems like you're not trying. What's up, and don't tell me nothing or it's none of my business because I'm making it my business"

I think your sis just hates the school she is at. Have your parents look into a private school, or a different private school if she is already in one.

Well..I tell you one thing; at least she is only in 7th grade. Sit her down, talk to her. I have found that sibling talks accomplish even more than parent-children ones.

Tough situation, it isn't easy being the youngest. I would recommend just being open and honest with her about your concern for her grades. She will probably get pissed at you and tell you to mind your business but remember she is a teen so she naturally knows everything. Offer her help, tutoring what ever. Have a talk with her about drugs as well, your parents might try but it is better to get the strait dope (pun intended) from a brother.

sounds like she is going into the "typical teenager" syndrome. 7th grade..she must be, what, 13?

Yeah, sounds like she is having some sort of problems that are reflected in her bad grades. Maybe she is depressed for some reason. She does demonstrate a few of the symptoms already. Possibly trouble sleeping, introvertedness and apathy.
Don't yell at her but have a heart to heart with her. See what's on her mind.

Tell her you know this guy from anandtech that is fairly smart but lazy as sh!t. He graduated from highschool with a 2.8 gpa and now he's kicking himself in the arse cause he can't get any scholarships. Then tell her to shape up before she develops bad habits, and screws herself for the future. And if she doesn't listen, and shape up, then make her shape up, she'll thank you in the future.

Its hard for kids to understand when they are in 7th grade just how important it is to do well in school.

yes, she does hate the school that she is at, hell, i hated that school too. My big sis wasn't going to come home for spring break, but hearing the news, she freaking started driving home to have a talk with her, maybe i'll have a second talk with her.

I have this worry that she met someone online, please reassure me that she didn't, just lie to me. We tell her not to chat with anyone unless its school friends, and we've never had a reason to loose trust in her.

We also have a younger brother who from the start didn't do well in school. Most of my mom's attention is focused on him since he is doing poorly, but would she purposely not do good at school to get attention? dude, i'm stuck here doing homework, when I just want to go home and talk to her.

you either have to have serious problems or be incredibly lazy to get a 1.5gpa especially in 7th grade.

i dont know what kind of people you huing around when you were in 7th grade but my friends and i would make fun of the dumb people in school.

why arent your parents doing anything about it?

I wasn't a typical teenager. I never had below a 3.0 in junior high or high school. I'm betting on incredibly lazy...but it could have something to do with depression.

Edit: forgot to add that we made fun of the dumb kids too. In retrospect it probably didn't make them try any harder though.

shes met some chimo on the internet and hes going to rape her, so you better take her computer away from her and make her study so the chimo wont get her.

my parents aren't doing anything because they expect my sister and I to talk to her, Also, both of my parents work all day, leaving them both home under the care of relatives who, i think, is only there for safety. I think my little sis 12, and little brother 9, feed themselves during the day time. I told my mom to stop working, but my parents won't be able to afford it =\

well, they deserved it! i remeber once in honors english this one guy just could read, i have no idea how he got into the class, he would sound out words when we were supposed to read aloud. it was ridiculous. So my friends started imitating him when it was our turn to read, well the teacher didnt like it too much and sent us to the principal's office who just verbally warned us and let us go which of course the teacher got mad about .

haha, god people are such asses when they are young. i was a complete jerk when i was younger. now that i am older when i come across a dumb person i just make jokes about them that are over their head so i don't feel bad cause they can't understand them anyway.

I just thought it was funny because I don't really know anyone who would rag on someone because of lack of intellect. Between friends, sure but not random students. I was just imagining a young Ameesh saying something like, "Dude, that guys is such an idiot!! Why in the heck is he getting laid and I'm not."
