I bet when they published the first Bible it was a dark day for the name "Lucifer"

Up until that time it was probably a pretty popular name... but after the Bible was published, who wanted to have their kid's name associated with the DEVIL?

Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy
"If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

from here
Lucifer
Meaning: brilliant star, day star, shining one / Hebrew: heylel

This name appears only once in the Bible (Isa. 14:12). It was a title given to a king of Babylon to express his perceived glory. The KJV and NKJV translate the Hebrew word as "Lucifer," the NIV uses "morning star," and the NRSV uses Day Star."

Commentator Dr. Henry M. Morris states: "Although the prophecy [in Isaiah 14] is directed toward the earthly king of Babylon (Isaiah 14:4), here it goes far beyond him (he could never fall from heaven) to the wicked spirit possessing his body and inspiring his actions. Just as Satan possessed and used the serpent's body in Eden, so he does here with Babylon's king..."

Thus, the names "Lucifer" or "Day Star" have also long been applied to the fallen angel, Satan, the Devil.
