Last monday a neighbor of mine (I live in an apartament building) tried to break into my apartament. He's a drug addict. Has lived on welfare all his life and is generally a very not nice person at all.

He first tried to pick the lock.. then started pounding the door.. And that was when I called the cops.
Before they got here the guy got a leg from his kitchen table and used it to make a hole in my door.

I was pretty scared while it was happening let me tell u that!

Ofcourse he had left before the cops finally arrived.

The talked to me first.. And then to him for about five minutes.. Then they left. And he ofcourse came back to putside my door after about 20 mins.

I called the cops again. They said to call back if something happened (!)

Then I had to go to work. And he was still there.. So I had to call the cops AGAIN to come and remove him.. and they did.. And I got a ride with them to work.

Now.. This man came to my door some time in June and asked if I had his wife with me. I did not understand at first what he was asking about but when I did I said no. I have never even met the woman. I did not know that we has a drug addict at this time. He seemed affected by something though.


So.. What happened after this?. Well.. nothing.. it takes months to get someone evicted here in Sweden. They didn't even bring him in until later that evening when he stole a car.. And they still released him the day after.

So I can't live in my apartament. I had to take a week off from work. Noone cares about me.. Or the other ppl in the building that are terrified of this very violent man.


How can this be? Why are his rights more important than mine?

I feel extremely let down by society. I have no faith left at all. I pay the highest taxes in the world and when I need support there is none.

I just wanted to share this with someone outside this shithole of a country cuz somehow som ppl seem to think Sweden is great.

And it's not.

I also would like to know what would have happened to someone that does things like this in outher countries.


ps. This guy has a file that is 22 pages long. Not exactly the first offence on his part.

Get yourself a baseball bat, or something useful to defend yourself. Obviously the cops are going to belive you over him if he has that kind of a record if anything happens. Usually if you hit someone hard enough they know better than to come knocking on your door again.

I think pepper spray is illegal in Sweden. I do have a bat. But bats help little if he picks the lock and enters my apartament while I am at sleep.

Anyway.. I am going to get his file now. So I can see exactly what he has done before. The DA thinks there is no risk of further crime. I hope there will be proof in his file that there is indeed a big, fat risk.

Believe me.. it's a sturdy door. I wouldn't think would be possible to inflict such damage with that sort of equipment only either. But it aparently is possible!

I am going to put in an extra lock on the new door.. whenever that arrives.


Did ya all know that we offer rebates on crime here in Sweden?

We do!!.. if you for instance should rape someone.. U could just as well snatch a few cars, do some drugs and anything else that is less severe than a rape. You see you basically only get to serve for the worst thing you do.

And on top of that we have veeeeeeeery mild sentences compared to many other countries. The guy that tried to break into my apartament will most likely get away with a fine. And he won't have to pay for it since he is on wellfare so it will cost him nothing at all.

Yes.. it's incredible!. And it doesn't get any better knowing that me and ppl like myself are actually paying for all this (through the highest taxes in the world)!! I cost my employer about US $ 3600 a month. How much of that do you think I get?

I get about $1850 after taxes and social fees!


We have free education, free healthcare and noone ever has to be without a place to stay here in Sweden. So there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever to become a bum like him.

Did I mention that I hate living here?

However I think the difference is not as big as it was back in the 70's.

And it really depends on what u like. If you like slutty women, Sweden is the place to go.

Thats horrible. Lets say though that this maniac does force himself into your apartment, are you allowed to do anything you want to him since he is:

A) An uninvited guest forcefully entering your apartment
B) Physical threat to yourself and whoever is in the apartment

I know in the States there's different situations and different rules. I also remember hearing that if an intruder enters a home of a family with a child, anything the mother does to protect her child (i.e. kill/mame/injur/etc.) then she is not charged. I'm probably totally wrong but it sticks out in my head.

In the States (in most locations, that is) you are allowed to stand your ground and protect yourself, your loved ones, and your property with any force YOU deem necessary. In many European countries and the UK, your are expected to escape any way you can, and strict levels of force are imposed if you have no means of escape. You cannot use any more force than they deem necessary after the fact, and you can never use force to protect your property.

In other words, you are literally expected to run away if at all possible. If cornered, you better hope you don't hurt him any more than it takes to stop him.

And they wonder why their crime rates are shooting up higher than ours...
