i had it all going for me, good job, good woman, 8 month old daughter..

i made a terrible mistake, dont do it you guys, it's not worth it...

i've been addicted to hydrocodone/oxycodone for a long time, it finally caught up with me... god i feel like such an asshole...

i was supposed to go on vacation on the first..

i was on probation for a misdemeaner marijauna charge, now this..i dont know how long i'll have to serve, but im sure it wont be a short sentence, probably a year or so...

just needing to vent..

So one conviction wasn't enough to convince you to clean up your life? And now you've graduated from MJ to prescription drugs. I guess probation was nothing more than a little speed bump on the road to oblivion, huh?

Your daughter will be so proud to brag to her friends about visiting daddy in jail. And while you're gone, how is mommy going to pay the bills? Is your daughter going to lose her to work while you're gone?

I hope the high was worth it. How much damage is the next one worth?
Hey look, it's Sister Moral Superior chiming in with her 2 cents:roll:

What part of what he did are you recommending to the rest of us?

god it feels like my life just came crashing down....

You were buying drugs outside of your work. You've probably driven on drugs or taken them while working. You have an 8 month yr old daughter in your house while you're abusing illegal drugs - who will now not have a father.

How the fvck is this a "victimless crime"? Give me a break.

There's nothing to say you were not one step way from killing someone because you were driving under the influence.

Hopefully jail will help you grow up and get over your addiciton. Good luck.
Actually it might be good luck as in a life changing experience that may save him and his family from disaster. I think mandatory rehab would be more effective than being locked up with violent criminals but this is Texas and he's lucky that he's not sentenced to life in prison. He definately should follow MichealD's advice, get proactive with his own recovery. Many others who have gone on to lead productive and successful lives after being addicted to substances including our own President. Well maybe that's not the best example but there are millions of others out there who have combated substance abuse and addiction successfully and have gone on to lead better lives.

Had to get your dig in on the Pres :)

I agree, it is the best thing for him. But he needs to realize the opportunity he has and take advantage of it. No matter how much it sucks. Clean up.

Ahh the twisted logic of moral superior. Drugs are illegal and we put you in jail. You are a horrible person because you did drugs and now are thrown in jail leave the mother of your baby to pay the bills.

Hey idiots, the it isn't the OP fault he is going to jail it is YOURS and other fools who support the drug laws. It is on you that his daughter will have to visit him in jail.

Well though I'm for legalizing drugs, those who oppose them didn't make this guy take them.

The "crime" was victimless. Of course the "justice" system is doing the victimizing.
Do you guys really think that smoking pot and taking prescription painkillers would be anywhere near as harmful to anyone in this situation as what the government is doing?
The people who lied about Oxycontin's addictiveness and marketed it are going to get away with a fine and no criminal penalties, but people addicted to their junk are being criminalized.

To a certain degree yes but not as much responsibility for his prediciament as himself. Anyway it sounds as if he wasn't going to kick his addiction without any intervention so in the long run this could be a very good thing for him and more importantly, his family. Of course that all depends how he goes about it. It just sucks that he might have to lose his freedom for a period of time and be labeled a felon, that I truly believe is unfair and counter productive.

Your logic appears to just as twisted.

I also believe that we should decriminalize, if not legalize, recreational drug use, but that's not what this is about right now. What this is about it a grown man with responsibilities that willingly jeopardized his family's well-being for his drug use.

Sure, maybe this shouldn't be illegal, but it is. Is the OP a freedom fighter who's making a political statement and working to extend liberty for us all? No, he's a user that let his addiction overcome his better judgment and broke the law, having full knowledge of the potential consequences. He made that choice, and must now deal with the results.

Sucks for him, sucks for his wife, sucks for his kid, but you can in no way, shape, or form blame people who *don't* support the legalization of drugs. That's just retarded.

The fact that he knew the potential consequences do not lift the burden from those people imposing the consequence. It is like say it is ok to rape a women wearing a short skirt because "she knew that was a potential consequences."

Of course you can blame people who support a law for the results of that law.

Hey look, it's Sister Moral Superior chiming in with her 2 cents:roll:

What part of what he did are you recommending to the rest of us?

The ability to make our own choice about our bodies.

I'm going to respond to your original paragraph.

sixone your own statements argue against yourself.

all the severe problems caused by getting arrested is the state's. The man was happily married and had a kid and was financially able to support them. The state has now destroyed that. The argument that he himself caused his ruin is false. What might or could have happened is NOT what has actually occured. As I said before potentiality is not actuality. Maybe he would have been addicted to oxycodone for years and caused his family ruin. Maybe he would have finally quit. But too bad the state has already decided his fate. The ruin of him.

People keep on talking about how it might make him a better man. I say BULLSHIT! Better? Losing your family over something the goverment has no right to enforce is better? BULLSHIT.

Who had he harmed by being addicted to the drug? Say himself. He obviously was not a horrible worker or family man. Fine.

Now who has been harmed? His entire family.

Better is Bullshit.

Now I'll admit something. Is addiction good? I don't really think so, however there is a lesser of two evils here. Had he ruined his family financially through drug use or was there any indication he was going to then there might be a decent reason for rehab. However taken from his posts this is not the case and therefore this is in fact a morality debate. This morality relies on ifs and buts and probablies. there are no actual facts.

here IS A FACT: He was a father and able to raise his family along with his wife.

What about Anna Nicole Smith? She just had a baby but continued to use drugs. And she's in a cemetery now.

You were on probation and yet you still went ahead and used drugs. You were given a second chance in life and yet you failed as a husband, a father, and a civilized person that can't obey the law.

It says alot about you. There shouldn't be "third", "fourth" chances in life. It's ridiculous that God has to forgive people for doing the same mistake over and over.

hang in there my friend, now the worst thing you could do now is not go to court. Get a good lawyer and fight it to geta reduced sentence or dismissed. You will always regret later for knowing that you did not even try. its only uphill from now. make an effort............will pray for u!
