What's done is done with the drugs. Ignore the people lecturing; whether you feel they're right or wrong has no bearing on your future right now. Your top priority should be your family.

Take MichaelD's advice. Try to kick your addiction (I feel for you with being addicted to prescription PKers; it's way too easy to get hooked) and cleanup before the court date, and also try to prepare your family for when they're without you.

A pot smoking drug user got caught and will go to jail.

personally, i think they should make you swear to NEVER be allowed to collect a penny from the government and then let you drug yourself to death, instead of go to jail, if that is your choice...

but i pity your child.

Maybe he could get a job as a Conservative Radio Talk Show Host.

That would be fine, too. As long as he is not a drain on the taxpayers, he can smoke and drug himself to his heart's content.

Let he without sin cast the first stone, asshole.

hahahaha, you're so ugly!

you're still just a troll. a perfect one, but troll, nonetheless.

yay you.

I'm a troll for supporting the law? You're retarded

Your a troll because your trying to oversimplify the situation. Oversimplifying is always easier than taking in the full situation. The lazy and weak do it all the time, unable to actually formulate an argument that can consider all the points they simply ignore some as you have done.

Fine you support the law, but that does not allow you to ignore anything such as the situation of the family. Nor does it allow you to ignore the specifics of the crime such that the drug was phenobarbitol, that the guy handed it to him on the street rather than some planned drug deal, that his record will be permanently damaged.

You are not supporting the law. You are being a troll. If you support the law you have to actually make and argument showing people on this forum exactly why the law works:In all situations: most situations, etc. If you are unable to do so then shut up. A one liner may be used as a joke and other such odd circumstances, however insofar as I see it a one liner such as yours has absolutely no place in a debate.

Causing people to have to interpret(a one liner) or misinterpret your meaning then responding back is trolling especially in such a subject.

By the way, noone cares about your opinion if your not going to make an argument. If perhaps you just want to state that your not trying to make an argument say "it's just my opinion" otherwise it will be taken as such.

I would think people would be able to understand such things but I guess some feel the need just to interject their opinion everywhere and make them easily misinterpreted or oversimplified. Oh wait, they're called trolls.

I guess the trolls forgot THEY WILL BE PAYING for his three hot's and a cot..
I'd rather the money spent on rehab then wasting it on locking him up, save
that space for the murderers, rapists, theives and the like. This is a gainfully
employed man with a drug problem, not a frigging monster!!!

i've been addicted to hydrocodone/oxycodone for a long time, it finally caught up with me... god i feel like such an asshole...

i was supposed to go on vacation on the first..

i was on probation for a misdemeaner marijauna charge, now this..i dont know how long i'll have to serve, but im sure it wont be a short sentence, probably a year or so...

While I don't agree with the marijuana laws, based on the lack of physical addiction, the codones are quite addictive. It sounds like you're another victim of outdated/misguided drug policies. Good luck, hope you can at least break the codone addiction.

You aren't perfect , either.
STFU.

of course I'm perfect

seeing morons go to jail is awesome, yay!

You're one close minded individual. prison is for people who are a threat to society, which the OP clearly isn't. He needs rehab for the codone addiction, which he may get is prison..but based on speaking with ex-inmates, codones aren't hard to come by there. I seriously hope you get a wake up call someday.

no, the legal system in my county moves so slow there's no need to yet...

when i got the weed charge it took 8 months to go to court over it....

You get 24 hours to b!tch about it and feel sorry for yourself. Yeah it sucks, yeah the system sucks, yeah maybe you didnt deserve it. Whatever. It did happen and now you need to deal with it. It's time to get your arse moving and do some damage control. Get a lawyer right now. Get yourself into a rehab program. Attend regularly, do everything you're supposed to do, including regular drug testing to show your staying clean. If it does take months for this to go to court then that means you have months to be pro-active and get your shyt together. That will impress the courts and maybe the judge will think you are finally taking this seriously and it might defer your sentence. If you sit around and dont take any responsibility and do nothing about it, then you deserve no sympathy.

Best reply so far.

that is a damn good post, zane...listen to this man if you wanna stay out of jail!

Drugs should all be legal, every single one. I don't see the need to increase what is already the largest prison population on the planet with people accused of these petty charges by the morality police.

And you should be hit by an intoxicated motorist.

Dumb reasoning.

The legality of 'hazardous' materials will never really change the fact that some people are just going to F up.

Alcohol? Cigarettes? Prescription meds? Firearms?

Not sure if it's a victimless crime. Ever thought about his daughter?

Prison sentence may be a bit harsh but there should be some repercussions. People with addictions are not as productive at their jobs. It also affects their social and personal lives.

Addiction is an illness. I hope the OP hits bottom, learns from his mistakes and makes efforts to better his life.

and how do you think his daughter has been affected? whatever it is may be, is it worse than having a father removed?

if low work productivity and poor sociability calls for jailing... i know more than a few "clean" co-workers who should be thrown in the same bin

but i guess theres that big deal about buying drugs = paying for al qaeda & 4 horsement ....

If his daughter hasn't been affected already, she will be soon. How good can a parent be if he is high on drugs? And he will be high more and more frequently as his addiciton worsens.

And I never said anything for jailing. Learn to read, asshat. I said, "there should be some repercussions" as in this guy should be held accountable whether it's probation, rehab, community service, etc. Think. Use your brain a little if it hasn't been fried by drugs already.

And what's this bs about al qaeda? How did that get thrown in with my comments? Are you a retard?

I think what saddens me the most is that he seems regretful only because he got caught...that and the fact that he's constantly tried to justify what he's done despite his baby daughter.

I have a neighbor who is hooked on pain killers. Of their three children, only one has come through to make something of himself, and he's got so so many emotional scars from the ordeal that I hurt for him. It truly is a miracle that he's come the distance he has.

OP, never ever lie to yourself that what you're doing will not affect your child. It WILL. If you want to use drugs, that's your choice, but to be a parent and involve your child is selfish and wrong. Your wife is old enough to choose to stay with you or go as she sees fit. Your child has no such choice.

So one conviction wasn't enough to convince you to clean up your life? And now you've graduated from MJ to prescription drugs. I guess probation was nothing more than a little speed bump on the road to oblivion, huh?

Your daughter will be so proud to brag to her friends about visiting daddy in jail. And while you're gone, how is mommy going to pay the bills? Is your daughter going to lose her to work while you're gone?

I hope the high was worth it. How much damage is the next one worth?

guy handed me the pills right on the sidewalk, there just happened to be a cop sitting at the stoplight and saw it go down...next thing i know im in cuffs and my cars getting impounded because it was parked in a 2 hour zone....

god it feels like my life just came crashing down....

You were buying drugs outside of your work. You've probably driven on drugs or taken them while working. You have an 8 month yr old daughter in your house while you're abusing illegal drugs - who will now not have a father.

How the fvck is this a "victimless crime"? Give me a break.

There's nothing to say you were not one step way from killing someone because you were driving under the influence.

Hopefully jail will help you grow up and get over your addiciton. Good luck.

At least you're not mooching off welfare like I am. Though I guess I was smart that I never got caught for anything illegal but rather make free money each month.
