How am i being judgemental? As a matter of fact i am more empathetic towards those with substance abuse problems as a result of a two week course on substance abuse. I got a glimpse of how hard it can be. Its not as simple as mind over matter, as i once thought.

I don't think that was a judgemental statement. now if he had said "Boy that was pretty stupid to participate in a drug deal right in front of your place of employement.", then that could be construed as a judgemental statement.

it wasnt even a drug deal...

it's a guy that comes into my work to get computer work done all the time...

he just gave them to me, i dont even take them....thought my wife might like them.. he just handed them to me and said here try these out.. next thing i know there's an officer running towards us telling us to not move....searches us both...finds the pills...finds his prescription bottle with more of the same pills in it..

carted us off to jail....

he got distribution of a dangerous drug..i got posession of a dangerous drug.. there wasnt any money exchanged or anything..

Since you didn't get distribution, maybe you can opt out of jail time for rehab?

Face it, you're a drug addict. You risked everything to get your high. Now you are paying for your actions.
Deal with the concequences.

Next time, have the guy meet you in the bathroom. You did it in a public place then you got caught now you're saying that the laws are stupid? If you're going to break the law, at least try to do it where you're least likely to get caught.

Did you break the law? Just because you think a law is stupid doesn't give you the privilege of disregarding it. They treat you like a criminal because by your own admission, you are a criminal.

While I hope your sentence is short and that the good things in your life remain, I think you should seek some sort of treatment prior to sentencing, show the prosecutor your desire to right your wrong, get letters from those you work with as confidence in your ability to not need incarceration. You're not the victim here. You knew it was illegal. Nobody twisted your arm.

I don't care what the libertarians say, drug abuse is not a victimless crime. I think what is defined as an illegal drug needs to be modified though.

Only sympathy i have is for the family. to bad the kids are not going to have a dad around.

Hopefully you get a short sentence. even a year is far to long.

Well, you can look at it as a victimless crime if you want but you are forgetting one person above all you should consider who is a victim....your child.

You are a big boy now and big boys make big decisions...you choose poorly and now paying the price. Do I feel for you? No.

Do I feel for your family? Yes.

Your "victimless" addiction can and will eventually have an impact on your child...you obviously see your actions as harmless but what if in the future your child catches you or finds out that you do drugs regularly? We all know that children often imitate their parents and since he/she sees you do it now...when the opportunity arises for her to make a decision whether or not to partake in pot, then maybe x or possibly graduating to meth she will reflect back upon her daddy who did drugs and "turned out ok."

Is that what you want for your child?

When you look at her and tell her "don't do drugs" do you want her to look at you and see not her father, but another lame hypocrite telling her what to do?

Or she goes totally opposite and is a die hard anti drug person and every time she looks at her daddy she sees a looser.

I guess if that is the kind of relationship you want with your kid...go ahead.

Most people with an ounce of brain would choose something different.

did I do drugs? yes I did....25 years ago when I was in school...but as a grown up I have never touched it...does that make me better than you? To some maybe...I just see it as choosing the rest of my life and those around me that I care about to be more important than a moment of high.

Why one earth would you do something so illegal in such a public place? Because you've done it a long time and thought you were invincible. Stupid move, man. NEVER let your guard down.

His child is a victim because mainly because he'll be getting sent to jail instead of rehab.

Unless you want to argue that parents taking drugs is child abuse - and thats a slipperly slope we don't want to get on, considering the legality of certain drugs.

That's because you are a criminal. I feel sorry for your baby. Sounds like your wife is an addict as well. Maybe the foster system would be a better place for your child.
