i got in a couple of accidents back to back a few months ago. (neither were my fault, in fact, the second car hit mine while i wasn't even in it.) today i got a letter from my insurance company saying i had until 8/20 to provice proof of my license being reinstated. i called the dmv, they told me my license was revoked because i was reported as getting into an accident without being insured (i insured), and the mix-up would be resolved by monday. until then, i am unlicensed and not allowed to drive. this SUCKS. argh.

To the OP:

Yeah. For the most part you can easily get away with this. It is a bit of a gamble though. Despite how good a driver you might be, you could get into a wreck that was unavoidable. If anything at all happens, you might be in a worse situation.

I figure if you realy need to drive, do it. If not then don't. There's no need to risk any extra trouble, but don't let it stop you from doing things that are important.

I'd drive and not worry, and if I got pulled over the DA would sure as hell be getting a call from my attorney first thing.

looks like that already happened to him - twice! If I were him, I wouldn't take any chances and just not drive until it's cleared up. Any law enforcement officer who either stops him or comes to an accident involving him, isn't going to know that his license revocation is an error and he's going to have an additional mess to straighten out.

He'd have no mess to straighten out with a simple call tot he DA. A clerical error causes him to incorrectly have his license suspended and end up in jail? The DA would be more the happy to let him walk, lest he turn around and take them to court.

No, it's spelled "Caught".

Wow, you actually missed the joke. Quite unfortunate.

I've had my suspended a few times, and I still needed to go to work, so I just drove only where I had to for that period of time. If you make sure your car has no obvious mechanical problems like any lights out and such, and follow the posted speed limit, use your blinker always, etc, you should be fine.

I don't think most judges would hold you to anything if you get caught, seeing as how it was their mistake.

It sounds liek it is not the states fault but the insuance comapnies, so if he got pulled/accidnet/etc... he would still get a ticket or taken to jail and the DA would say, tough luck, tell it to your insurance company. The DMV gets info from the insurance comapny, not the other way around.
