Today Friday March 16,1:50pm, my friend "voodoo 4 4500" was put out to the pasture. He leaves behind a glorious past of fun ..iam truly sad. I have crossed over to an ATI Radeon 32mb ddr.lets all have a moment of silence.............................. OK now time for some real fun now!!!!!!LOL.

Btw ,what drivers should i be using for this new card? the ones with the cd or what?

this is wierd..this card has madden acting weird..the field is turning blue ..what gives.iam using the drivers you mentioned.

Get a Playstation 2 if you want to play Madden. Sports games suck on PC's. They are meant for consoles I believe. They are so much better for consoles.

Man you must be crazy..consoles are not for me.i have played madden 2001 on my pc with no probs with a voodoo 4 4500..consoles suck big time!! its this new radeon acting up with my games

pugh,

I'm using the 7089 drivers (most recent unofficial) right now, without any problems at all. Make sure, though to get a tweaker to enable hyper z, overclock, etc.

You may want to check out Rage3d. They have a ton of info over there, including the latest drivers and tweakers.

the only card u need to "enable" hyper Z on is the LE right ?
I have the regular 32 DDR, I dont need to do a reg hack to get the hyper Z working do i ?

i got a retail radeon ,no need for hacks, why is this making NOLF look and act like crap.and madden 2001 too.my voodoo 4 4500 works fine with these.

Jad, you're correct, sorry if there was confusion. If you have the normal (not LE) DDR card, then Hyper Z is fine.

I get so used to everyone buying the LEs, that I tend to forget that there are others out there.. 😉 😱

Pugh,

I know that there was an issue with NOLF, don't remember if there is a fix or not, since I don't have the game. 🙁

I would check out the forums at rage3d. I know there are others on there with the same problem. Do a search for NOLF, shouldn't have any trouble locating it.

no problem tigereye, i just wanted to make sure that with the leaked drivers on rage3d (im using 7089) u didnt need to manually enable hyper Z with the standard radeons

oh and also pugh i played a NOLF demo with no problems under 98, directx 8a and at the time i was using the special purpose driver off the ATI site.

Oh well ,i had to go back to my voodoo 4 4500,that dang card made my games look like crap! is there anything out there that will comepare to what i got?

thanks Mem,i tried a geforce MX awhile ago and it made halflike look bad.blotchey..i guess ill keep this voodoo as long as i can.it runs my games real nice..

Actually pugh Half-life is pretty good with a MX card in OpenGL & I also use the DVC(Digital vibrance control) feature in the Nvidia properties display panel get those colours out of 3D games(I use the low setting which makes games like UT look real good).

🙂

pugh, just keep the voodoo4 if it does the job. if your looking for more high res power maybe get a voodoo5, there cheap these days. I learned my lesson the same as you, had a voodoo5 then got radeon 32 mb ddr retail, after over one month of playing around with the radeon i went back to the V5.......my conclusion was the v5 is a better all round gaming card than the radeon.

if you get a voodoo 5 just make sure you have room in the case for it (lenght) and 200 watt plus power supply, as for the voodoo5 the more cpu power you have the better
