My kitten thinks he's bad.

A few months ago Mrs. Pickins convinced me we needed a pet, so we got a kitten named Cheddar from the shelter. He's about 4 months old now and only 4.5 lbs, but he thinks he's the biggest badass to roam the earth.

Case in point: I was sitting here at my PC when I heard the cat hiss and run headfirst into the sliding glass door. I assumed it was a cat on the back porch that had the little guy so riled up. Nope, it was a full grown raccoon. Looked like he weighed at least 15 lbs, and wasn't a bit frightened.

That first thump on the head wasn't slowing cheddar down. His tail was fluffed up and he was still ready for some action. I heard him clawing at the doorframe as I was scrounging for my camera. Of course the raccoon had scurried off before I got a picture, and I wasn't going outside to get one.

Crazy little bastard is lucky he's an inside cat.

On a side note, I live in the very middle of a suburban neighborhood a few miles in diameter but my backyard is no stranger to raccoons or opossums. Amazing how adaptable the two species are.

My newest addition is months old now and is so full of himself, I've seen him literally try to climb the wall.

His full name is Super Sharp Cheddar. I couldn't tell you who named him that, or why (the name was already on his shelter tag), but we liked it and decided to keep it.

Funny you say that, his water dish has a place to screw in a bottle upside down so it doesn't need to be refilled as often. And I have just been refilling it from the tap. 😀
