My kid's xbox dvd's are starting to look like coasters.

I haven't modded their box yet, but hope to shortly. In the meantime I'd like to make backups so they'll be at the ready when I get the mod done. Halo2 looks like it was shot out of a cannon and spongebob looks like the dogs were playing with it.
What utility can I use to make backups?

You can't until it's modded

I guess you meant once it is modded. Just get Slayer's autoinstaller - installs EvoX and pretty much any utility needed to "backup" your games. I forgot which one I use that comes with it

Current version of Slayers is 2.6 - no longer available on #xbins via direct dl - you'll have to dl the torrent file and proceed from there

If you're modding, why even bother to make backups. Just stick in a $150 300GB hard drive and store the entire library on their.

He wants to back them up so when he is ready, he has some valid stuff to throw on there, instead of scratched BS

I'm going to hardmod the box. Likely an Xecuter chip.
Down the road I may add a harddrive. In the meantime I want to protect the games they've got.
Obviously I can't use the backups in the box now, but I will be able to once the hardmod is done. I also lack the ability to test the backups, but I'll go ahead and back them up in hopes that I've done it correctly.
What program/group of programs can I use on my computer to burn the backups? What do you guys use?

Nothing but an Xbox can read Xbox discs. You have to have it modded to make a backup. Or have access to someone with a modded Xbox. Or be willing to Hoist Yonder Black Flag and pirate them preemptively. 😛

So, if I want to burn hard copies, I have to use my xbox to burn them? Or is that to say that it's impossible to burn backups using my PC?
Or is my only option to back them up onto my xbox's hard drive?
Forgive my ignorance, I thought I could back them up just as I back up my PC games.
I've seen the black flag options. I assumed those iso's were made via PC. How'd the little wankers do it?

I tried that angle. For some reason they're unresponsive to my well-intentioned suggestions.
I think it may have something to do with their mother dropping them on their heads.

I think after they ruined the first one with no replacement they'd learn.

parents today are just soft in fear of noisy neighbors reporting them to children welfare agency. if you can't reason w/ them, it's time for violence. Get a 2x4 out and beat them senseless until they agree to respect the CDs/DVDs like they respect the 2x4.

Done deal. You guys were right on target. Just a few whops with a ball bat and they promised to never disrespect any item ever again. They even apologized for acting like kids and assured me that it'd never happen again.
Wish I'd have explored the beating angle long ago. It was magic 😀
I can't wait till the wife gets home so I can show her how it works, too!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you need a modded xbox to burn games. You rip the game with your xbox and FTP it to your computer. Then burn the game with you dvdrw on your computer. Only an xbox can read xbox games so I think this is what you have to do. And you can't read and ftp a file from your xbox unless it's beed modded.
