ell, y I kno tht. But is there ny way to fix it/

I opene it up n some of the trces re burnt. A conuctive pen mybe/

i spilled soda on mine. just unscrewn it, take off the contact pad, wash the keys with warm water and let it dry, then put it back together. i actually didnt put my keyboard all the way back together, its half frienkinsteind still as im typing.

water should dry out anyway....

yes, you should be able to take it apart, wash it, and let it dry. I was told once the keyboards are actually able to go through dish washers.

A concur full with OldFart (being one myself!) A keyboard these days is not worth messing with. They are too cheap - don't even justify off shore labor. 🙂 Trash it and replace it.

Ive got a spare, but I really like the one I have (Microsoft Office Keyboard), and I havent seen them in stores for a while. Theyre pretty hard to find.

Some of the traces on the inside are burnt out. Which leads me to think a conductive pen could help...anyone know for sure?

No one knows for sure. Give it a go and find out. Can't hurt can it?

I kill a keyboard average about once every 6 months by spilling soda on it. Once happened while i was playing Everquest, trying to explain why i needed to log didnt really come across well, they though my char was drunk in-game.

LOL, I haven't read a thread this entertaining in a while...

You could pop out all your keys and clean it up. Or you could try unplugging it and submerging it in water/dishwasher. (Not that I've tried this, but cleaning it up any other way is pretty similar... just make sure you give it ample time to dry)

I'd just buy a new one if I were you though... keyboards are a dime a dozen nowadays.

Oops. Didn't realize your traces were burnt out...

It couldn't hurt to try, but on the one keyboard I've fully disassembled, the traces looked like they were sandwiched between two layers of sealed clear plastic. You could also scratch out around the burned trace and then use conductive pen.

But it'd be much easier to try ordering a new Office Keyboard online. The MS Natural Elite is pretty nice too. (I'm using it now)

I'm sorry..........but dude this has to be the funniest thing i've read ......hahah seriously i'm laughing so hard, just cuz i'm tryin to read what you've said and it just hit me werid i guess. idk but man that was hillarious.........anyway hope u can fix it.

MY FAVORITE POST! 😀

burned out? u mean corroded right? i find that just leaving water in for a few hours between those plastic sheets corrodes the heck outa the traces. gotta take apart a wet kb asap

eh kb are cheap😉

My keyboard is the oldest component in my system- 1992 IBM ps2. Getting kind of gunky now that I've eaten barbecued chicken a bunch of times over it while surfing the net.
Probably got roaches living in it.
