My keyboard...GAH@!

So, I've been working at my current internship (well, in this department) for less than two weeks, and on day two I managed to spill half a bottle of Dr. Pepper on the keyboard. 🙁 Ever since, It's been downhill. The buttons arent sticky on their faces, but the 'UIOP' row, "'" "M" space, both enter keys, the arrows, and much of the numpad have a MAJOR problem with sticking. It's driving me mad -- I've pried up most of the keys and gotten them as unsticky as possible, but it's still quite bad. I mean, everyone here has been quite nice, but I don't want to go asking for new hardware just yet. 😱

*sigh*

at least when the guy in the cube across the hall leaves in three weeks, I'll get his cube with a newer, sticky free KB and a computer that has more than 256mb of ram (not so bad, but I'm running XP)!

I don't understand why this situation isn't fixed yet?

a.) bring a keyboard from home if it bothers you that much
b.) buy a 5 dollar keyboard from the store
c.) call the it people and ask for a new one
d.) this belongs to your lj.

a, b) annoying, but not worth th $5
c) Probably could, but I feel stupid doing that so soon. 😛
d) I don't have an LJ and my blog isn't for personal whining, that's what you guys are for.

Yeah, if you have a bum piece of hardware, the company should replace it. When I started at my current job, I spilled some pop on my phone and somehow *shiftyeyes* everyone got the impression that they just started sticking. Well sooner rather than later, I got a new phone. My point being: if somethings broke, as for a new one.

So it isn't really a problem then?

I mean, if you thought you were hungry, but decided it wasn't worth $5 to buy a sandwich, I guess you weren't really that hungry after all?

It's pretty annoying, but my dignity is worth more than $5.

Jimbob has a point though. It *somehow* started sticking.

Your dignity?

If you want to go from an internship to a real job, it may behoove you to dispense with your fear of loss of dignity, and display some problem solving skills.

Show a little initiative and ask them for a new keyboard.
