it lasted a good while before it mysteriously burned out any suggestions for a different budget mb.
 
well asus will be release mb to compete with ECS on price point pretty soon. ASROCK will be the name, but ai think a MSI turbo 2 will be around 60 bucks for a new one
 
Most spontaneous combustion mysteries are caused by slowly dying power supply units. Voltages go out of whack, unnoticed until something goes bzzzt. Check your stuff BEFORE putting a new board in, all of it, from RAM to CPU to drives to PSU, not forgetting all the add-in cards. Else you might find yourself in a vicious circle.
 
Also check this MB's CMOS battery (to keep CMOS settings). Some people has to replace 7 out of 9 systems he put together (see NewEgg buyer review) even when the board was new.
