In the last week I have received 4 emails from people who said they could not email me without getting a message stating their email server had been blacklisted (They got around this by writing from another email address). I checked with my ISp and they said they have started using a service called ORBS that is basically a blacklist and prevents certain email providers from spamming. ( www.orbs.org )

This I can understand, but people with MSN and Earthlink email addresses (among others) are being blocked from sending me email! I sell a lot of items on Eb*y and I can see this as becomming a major hassle if a lot of the popular internet/email providers can't contact me.

Has anyone else had any dealings with a situation like this? I can't switch ISP's because there is only one offered in my area.

Try to find another POP3 service. Or web mail service- but I really hate web mail services, I'm quite partial to POP3. :p

Sure, I have a Yahoo account, as well as Hotmail and a few others. The problem is that I hate juggling email accounts and can't imagine trying to explain to an Eb*y customer that they have to use my other email because... And with my slow connection, web-based email services are sloooooow.

This is the largest ISP in this region (and the only one that offers a local # to my area), and I'm sure they will be getting complaints like crazy about it. I guess since they own it, it's legal, but it really seems unethical that they can just ban MSN because too many people use it for spam. Grrrr....

If you use usa.net, you get POP3 mail. You can also set it to check other email addresses. And if you use Eudora, you can have it check multiple POP3 addresses at the same time.

Well looks like I might have to start using another email acct. Just wondering though if anyone else here has had a similar experience with the ORBS system?
