I've tried plugging my 4th gen 40 GB iPod into the wall and through the computer via USB 2.0 and Firewire, and everytime the iPod says "charging," but it never does. I ran the battery all the way down in order to see if I could get any juice added to it at all, but so far nothing. I left it charging all night long for the past 2 nights also... still nothing.
Basically, what should I do? I got it from my parents for my 21st birthday last month (September 9th), and they told me they bought it from Foley's (I didn't even know they sold iPods). I'm thinking about trying to exchange it, but my main concern is that Foley's has a 30 day return/exchange policy, and I won't be back in Houston (I'm at college right now) until Friday, which will make it somewhere between 3 and 5 days outside of the policy. Does anyone think that they'll let me exchange it since I have all original packaging and items still?
If not, I'm guessing my only other option is to go through Apple to try to get it fixed. If that's the road I have to go, does anyone know how long it would take for them to service it and get it back to me on average?
It'll really suck if Foley's doesn't let me just exchange it for a different one, especially considering it cost us ~$400.
Thanks for any help/responses!
Edit: Forgot to ask: Does anyone else know of or have experience with this type of problem?
