My Ipod earbuds broke (2nd pair) need a good replacement.

Hi all. Yep, I stepped on my iPod earbuds yet again and destroyed the left driver. Even though I mostly use my Bose Tri-ports I need a replacement earbud design and am looking at These instead of getting the iPod earbuds (Mainly cuz I hate white, gets dingy). anyone have these sonys? Do they sound good/better than the Ipod ones? The ipod earbuds sounded pretty good to me considering their size. Also, how do the sonys feel? I bought a simular Koss set a while back with a simular silicone foam for the ear and they never felt right on me. Are these simular or has the technology improved. Basically i am looking for the best sounding earbuds for under $100. I have big ear holes so the Koss model kept popping out of my ears and was very annoying, which is why I am looking at the sonys, but if it is basically the same as the koss then it aint for me. Let me know your opinions. Thanks.

omg man those earphones rock ....i have them an i jus cant take them out my ears!! the bass is soooooo good and the treble clear as day, they are the best earphones i have ever used period.

the silicon earbuds sit firmly in your ear, they block external noise and wont fall out at the same time....its surreal u play music on them an u jus cannot hear anything else around u, my mum hoovered my room i never knew till she bumped into me

i def recommend these

Thanks man! That's what I wanted to hear! 🙂

I'm going to put in a plug for some earphones that I'm selling. Sony MDR-E888...they are true hi-fi earphones that sound much better than the EX71's in my opinion. If you had trouble with canalphones (the koss ones you mentioned), these are some of the best "normal" earphones you can get. I'm not just saying all of this because I want to sell mine. I am an audio nerd, and I've owned the EX71's. They have an annoying "bloat" to their bass, meaning it takes over the soundstage and feels...fat. Maybe it was just my experience with them. Anyways...take a look:

I have the EX71s as well and I think they sound great, best earbuds I have used so far (better than the Ipod earpuds from my brothers Ipod). They also come with 3 different size silicon things and the large ones is really large so you shouldn't have a problem.

Another vote for the Sony's... I've used them for 4-5 years now, I've had a problem with my first pair when the cable froze and broke (it was -30 celcius though) but they've been absolutely wonderful otherwise. Just make sure to use the little case to put your headphones in when you don't use them if you put them in your backpack, it will make sure they stay clean and in good shape!

My sister bought a pair, my girlfriend bought a pair and everyone thinks they sound great for the price and portability!!!

Awesome headphones. My favourite buds that aren't unreasonably expensive. They come with multiple fitters so that should help you if you got small ear canals.

Well, I just picked up the EX71's and hey are great. The medium size rubbers (no pun) fit perfectly in my ear. They have a nice balance between treble and bass and although they don't go as loud as the ipod earbuds the sound quality is much better IMO. Thanks for the help guys!

There are mods for these buds. If you find the base too strong you can open it up and cover the little holes on the back. There's also another mod but I didn't read too closely into it.

I have those, nearly 2 years now, they sound fantastic but everyone else can hear them too!

The PX100 are the open phones, PX200 are closed. I have a pair of the 200's. They are small and compact (fold up) and sound perfect and are comfortable. Not much bass but I don't like much bass anyway.

I recommend any Sony headphones.... headphones are my favorite thing that Sony makes... never had a bad set. I love my full ear Sonys, and these would probably awesome too!

I agree, my main home stereo phones are the MDR-V700DJ and I love em. I still have my MDR-V6 (over 15 years now) and they still kick a$$. I have so many damn headphones. Its like a sickness. The Koss portapros are great but open eared so everyone can hear em but they sound awesome. I'm happy with the EX71's, they'll go nicely with my 2 dozen or so other head/ear phones.

I'd have to say, those Sonys are comfy and sound good, but the Shure's are even more comfy. 😉
