that's a real nice conclusion you just jumped to.

What else could have caused him to upgrade his battery? There is only one reason and it's because of that.
3 months ago i got a 3rd party to replace the failing battery in the ipod.

then ur lucky as hell because its a know fact that lithium ion batteries have a shelf life..and limited charges. maybe your laptop used nihm cells..in which case its battery life sucked in the first place..or was freakin huge. so u no win here. nihm is obsolete for this kinda stuff

It looks like some sort of failure in the battery has caused gas to build up inside the package.

There's no acid in a Li ion/Li polymer battery, but they can store a lot of energy and get extremely hot if they get short-circuited (externally, or internally, e.g. a nail penetrating the battery package), sometimes even catching fire.

Anyway, Li batteries are pretty non-toxic, so I'd just put it in with the household waste - just wrap it up with paper or something so it doesn't short out.

Lithium is highly toxic. Disposal in landfills is a big problem.

What the hell dude...I've replaced hundreds of 3G batteries...and none of them are that big...? Big, not as in puffy, because that's kind of obvious, that looks like it takes up the whole damn iPod. It's only like 3x2 inches....

just on quick question for goku... wat the hell do u have againt Apple/iPod? every critic possible has loved the iPod. many sites like PC World and PC Magazing award them editor's choice award. anyway... the iPod he has is a first or second generation one. those had the best technology of the time with something like 8hr battery life and an overallbattery life rated as 2-3 years. he passed that. it's perfectly natural that the battery failed. the battery industry is advancing quickly and improvments are being made all the time. and just on more thing, if u think that iPod owners are stupid, please keep ur stupid ass head out of this forum as no wants an asshole like u always complaining. so either keep ur fing opinion to urself, or go leave this forum and make a website about all ur complaints. now piss off!:|

My iPod mini battery is losing charge all the time, even when it's off. Like, I turn it off for a few days while the battery is fully charged....a couple days later, as if by magic, there is no power left in the battery!

We know ipods arent the best mp3 players/ music player period.

I admit that ipod looks great, software is pretty easy to use. But the design is just a piece of crap.

While it is perfectly for battery to die (like cell phone). Ipod users should able to replace their own battery. Wait a second, ipod buyers arent dumb? but they pay so much for a player that once the battery died and warranty expired, they have to pay like extra $100 for battery replacement?

I believe apple got sue over this ipod battery issues. And now they are obligated to replace some older ipods with new battery for free.

Aside from its looks and popularity, there is no reason why you should pick an ipod over any other mp3 player.

but then again, thats all ipod owners cares about. the look that is.

because the ipod is never really off unless it's idle for days. it's in standby mode so you can access it faster.

It is apple's scheme. They want you to replace your ipod every 2 year or so. Hence, comes the ipod nano.

well i had a rio forge and you can turn it off. but turning it on takes 1 minute. sometimes it is nice to be instantly on. although being able to turn it off would be a good feature, so is custom EQ.
