You know, to say thank you. What would be an appropriate gift for a boss in her late 30s, early 40s?

And then he can say, "oh thanks for the _____, I can keep it in my ass with your nose"

something like a pen or something......something he/she will use a lot so they always remember you and maybe hire your ass back full time

A gift certificate and a card. If you know her pretty well (which I assume you do, if you're getting her a gift), try to make it a gift certificate to something relevant that you know she'll use. Maybe her favorite restaurant or a bookstore or something like that.

I wouldn't do wine or chocolate, as those gifts kinda say "I didn't know what to get." Unless, of course, you know her favorite kind of wine or chocolate. Just make it something non-generic.

I'm 23.

My mom suggested a paperweight or flowers. I would rather get her something that would last longer than a few days obviously. Someone suggested a nice pen. Would that be appropriate and thoughtful? I know she likes fine point. Maybe a nice fine point pen would be good.
