negative on both counts, you can open the controller and remove the battery yourself. there are instructions in the manual for this.

anywhere that sells it 🙂, saw one from some honk kong site that was 8 bucks. its just a lithium ion battery, like a cell phone battery. theyll probably come out next year.

I've always thought the 360 fanboys sounded stupid for criticizing Sony over a cable, but your post is right up there. A pair of NiMh AA cells costs $3. Oh yeah, how do you like the rumble in that SixAxis? 😉 Sony saved some money by leaving out the rumble, and they spent a little more on providing a battery. Meh.

So what's the deal with the background of the main menu changing colors? I've seen it all red with a red ribbon, I've seen it with a very small amount of red at the bottom with the rest of the screen black and a red ribbon, then I've seen it all black with a white/gray ribbon. What's the deal? I'm thinking that it's got something to do with the time of day, but I don't know. I know the PSP had an option to change this to lots of different colors, but I don't see that option here.

at any rate, i like to do things myself. i also wouldnt want to be without a controller for god knows how long.

It changes depending on the current month and time of day.
