I'd caution against this line of thinking. While the current line is VERY nice, they have sold their laptop division to a builder in China. Keep an eye on build quality, could change with the move...

I'm contemplating getting the T42 wiht 1.8Ghz Pentium-M, 512mb ram, Mobility 9600 64mb vid card for $1900CDN before tax.

1) is that a good deal?
2) can I play games on it? I'm not looking for crazy high fps but are most games playable? I guess using Half Life2 would be a benchmark..can that game run on this laptop at around 30fps?

Speaking of Thinkpads, I agree with you. They are just awesome.

I finally fixed my Thinkpad T21 last night. The LCD was really dim so i replaced the cables and worked great!

I upgraded it to a 1Ghz a while ago.
