My proposed system:
Proc: Intel i7 2500k 180+tax @microcenter
MB: Asus P8P67 PRO 190 not in stock
Video: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 570 340-10%+tax @ microcenter
OS Drive: OCZ Vertex 2 120GB 215-$20MIR @ newegg
PSU: SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified 160-30@ newegg
Case: Antec 900 already own
Memory: 2x4GB Corsair Vengence 1600 95-20%-15MIR+tax @microcenter
Storage Drive: 3x1TB Hitachi Deskstars 50 a piece+tax
OS: Windows 7 64bit Pro 140

Total: ~1360
k.. couple of questions. Which memory do you guys recommend? suggestion outside of what is listed will be considered

The Asus website state: * Due to CPU behavior, DDR3 2200/2000/1800 MHz memory module will run at DDR3 2133/1866/1600 MHz frequency as default.

and when I decide to SLI, will 2xGTX570 saturate the bus as it supports SLI at 8x/8x, not the full 16x/16x. I've read I get a 2-3% decrease. That's not significant if that is the case. I want to make sure before I decide to go this route. Else I may go with the WS Revo.

Great build but you could save $100 with the 2500K...

G.skill memory is great...

Well I'm Photo/Video editing and gaming. So from what I've gathered I need the HT offered on the 2600k. correct me if I'm wrong. and which G.Skill? I see DDR3 1600 for $100. I would think I'd see simliar performance off the Patriot G5 1600 for $60.

If you're just gaming, you may want to consider sticking with the i5-2500K, though at least you're getting a pretty nice deal from microcenter.

Memory: 2x4GB not sure Corsair Dominator 170-20%+tax or Vengence 140-20%+tax @microcenter or Patriot G for 80- 20MIR@newegg

Which memory do you guys recommend?
No to any ram that requires voltage higher than 1.5V.

$75 after promo code - Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

OS: Windows 7 64bit Pro 140
Why not just get Home Premium?

You are correct. 8x/8x is fine.

Someone did a review using 6950 2GB in crossfire in 16x/4x and 8x/8x, and that showed only a very small difference between 16x/4x and 8x/8x. Here it is. So you shouldn't have to worry about 8x/8x limiting your GTX 570s.

You don't need the i7-2600K, but you would probably see some benefit from HT for video editing. It's up to you if that +$100 is worth it.

Nice choice on the PSU, I just bought my second Seasonic today, replacing an Enermax Revolution 950w. Only reason is because the Seasonic X 400w Gold fan-less is more power efficient for my practical needs. I bought the 950w thinking I would maybe need or use the headroom and I never did. Hell, even my Game rig2 in sig doesn't even break 400w while gaming Unreal Tournament III - i get anywhere from 250-350w drawl.

You might do better with the 660 or 650w Seasonic X. The power efficiency curve is greater than of the 750w. Check Jonnyguru.com for reviews about them.

It may be more efficient but I estimated the power needed when I get the system to the spec I'm thinking it will be in a year or two. and a few of the places said about 703 watts when I SLI.

Thanks for the input. Maybe I WILL go with the 2500k if it's not too much of a difference. and would there be issues with the Vengence RAM clearing a 212 cpu cooler on that board? I'm seeing it at 95-20%-15MIR=61+tax

I wouldn't even chance it. The Patriot Signature will definitely fit.
